Don't know why you find it so onerous..... are you using a medieval face guard type or a Scold's Bridle. I have no issue with the surgical mask types in the Mall,  where it is air-conditioned. A bit sweaty and uncomfortable walking the humid Pattaya streets maybe.

I thought the Ozzies had a bit more metal!

Because after 4 months of mask wearing everywhere in Thailand, I had 2 weeks of freedom not wearing a mask in Aus. Not having to wear a mask felt special, whereas it should be normal, so putting one back on did not feel good

I won't be wearing a mask ever again, so maybe I'll be back to thailand next year (or not if I fall in love with Vietnam)

It is getting to the point to utter stupidity, and a total lack of common sense. The other day I was in an outdoor restaurant, and there was an entire table of people wearing masks. As soon as the foo

Maybe we have to do the same as with wearing helmets on a motorcycle.... Don't do it and nothing will happen

Entirely possible as I have never heard of a fine being levied except to Prayut

Uhh...NOPE. :coffee1:

This administration seems specialized in killing the whole Thai economy.
I don't why... to enrich themselves? Or just for the heck of it?

I was just there. Foreigners are using common sense and not wearing masks, since there is barely any covid. Defy stupidity.

Did you stop to think that there is barely any Covid now because of the fact that most people here do wear masks? That's common sense to me.

The thing I think we forget is that people  in cities like BKK and CM were wearing masks long before covid.  That was probably  one of t he reasons that in the beginning things were so slow.

I go for a massage once a week and the girl wears a mask.  I can still tell that she is beautiful and I still get the same massage.

While I agree they need to get back to normally I do not see any issues with the mask other than it is hot and they make things warmer.

Personally if they remove the mandate you are still going to see a lot of people wearing the masks.  While others may feel  that it does not serve any purpose it may give people a feeling of safety and that is their choice

While I understand what you are saying - the issue is that the wearing of masks has been made compulsory.  If people want to wear one - “up to them”

I will no longer wear a mask outdoors .

There are many people doing the same in my area.

I will let you know when I get pinched by the RTP! 555

Getting fined by the RTP for not wearing a mask would be an extraordinary event 555

Very strange how adamant Uncle Tuu is about wearing masks in Thailand, yet when in his recent US trip meeting Biden he is pictured completely maskless shades of hypocracy (sp.) don't you think?

It is highly likely that masage girls will not only remove their masks once behind closed doors with customers, but most of their clothes too????

Then the foreign tourists should be made aware of this

Yesterday evening I viewed this live webcam from Koh Samui.  I saw many foreigners but not one was wearing a mask.

It's like this all over Thailand.

Since when do you expect laws to be enforced in Thailand. Actually, it isn't even a law, only a directive. Being told to wear masks outdoors is ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as newsreaders wearing masks on tv.

It is only one of the reasons. We all can see that Omi is weak and feeble. It is near the end. Numbers are dropping dramatically worldwide.

Man up, and let it go. With 3,854 cases yesterday and  only 21 deaths in Thailand (likely mostly seniors and those with pre-existing illnesses), not much to worry about anymore.

Do you stop to think that there is barely any Covid now because most are double vaccinated and the virus has run its course and its effect is reduced now to that of a cold. As most of the world - the free world that is and not countries run by dictators - are aware.

Very true. I for one will be ignoring the directive. Enough is enough. This is not the Zombie Apocalypse. Nor is it Bubonic plague. The panic mongers and the believers in doom need to come to terms with that.

This is fairly easy to understand. If you don't need to wear masks in public then it must be safe enough for people to gather in public, and we wouldn't want that now, would we children? - not with an election coming up and indications that "other" candidates are preferred.

Totally in keeping with our governments and ruling "elites" utter disdain for their own mandated rules. Masks, lockdowns, travel, distancing, etc.

It was bumbling Boris and his Govt's "partygate" episode being made public that ended all Covid restrictions in England, making one wonder if a political decision could end these "health" mandates, were they just arbitrary in the first place..?

The petty anger of foreign immigrants (sorry, I mean expats) here will annoy even Thais that don't like the current government.

First, understand that Thais are much more risk averse than the Australians, Americans and British. Read this https://www.hofstede-insights.com/fi/product/compare-countries/ to compare the difference and understand people here a bit more.

While reported cases have improved, believing reported cases is perhaps another matter.

Taking the p*ss out of the government about its efforts to prevent infection,  seems counterintuitive when you see the disasters created in the West.

And so in your opinion that's a bad thing.  People do follow mandates, regardless of your personal views.

Yes, in my opinion blindly following 'the rules' regarding outdoor masking is a bad thing. Parents masking up their toddlers is a perfect case in point. "Oh, but she looks so cute in her designer face mask". The last thing Thailand needs is yet more dumb obeisance.

Masks outdoors are pretty unnecessary indoors anyone who is sick could wear a mask this would makle sense.

Anyone who feels more protected is free to wear a mask but the mandate needs to go! We need to return to normal and also we must have agaon tourists in numbers. The industry is devastated and the rising commodity costs make it worse.

If there are chouces to go to a country with restrictions / mandates or a country where you can breathe freely I am sure quite a few will choose no restrictions.

(Singapore, Indonesia Malaysia etc) have removed the outdoor mask mandate.

It has had a negligible impact on daily official covid numbers.

Very much so, as here in Cambodia where it is no longer mandatory to wear face masks except in specific circumstances such as conference centers and cinemas. Supermarkets and other retail businesses - no problems.

For reference, the latest today 1st June 2022:

"As Cambodia marches towards ‘COVID Zero’, no new cases were recorded for the 25th day running"

https://www.khmertimeskh.com/501086052/25th-consecutive-day-of-zero-covid-cases-for-cambodia/

My wife's elder sister is near housebound, cancer etc, her husband is housebound, brain tumour operation.

She only goes to the market for food and people visit, it seems most never use a mask. Was told about an hour ago that they both have covid. ????

Soooo, it looks like imported to home from others, or she picked it up at the market, where mask wearing is patchy.....????

I'm gonna be there in june i haven't seen my wife for over years which isn't the best situation, anyhow I'm not trying to offend anyone we've all had a bumpy ride I'm just saying that mask wearing on a country by country basis has achieved very little even if you had the top grade mask you've got to take it off at some point the virus is airborne so getting it is pretty much inevitable i e tested positive for it twice and had no symptoms other people i work with have had common cold symptoms and some have had mild flu type symptoms I've not heard of any one that has been fully vaccinated requiring  hospitalization not disputing the fact that there are people that have needed medical assistance  it's over for now in my opinion

Regards

Danny.
