Im not sure why some expats behave like this.

This my take from the story.

What isn't noted was how much was the candy in the first place?

Guy never wanted the candy said he doesn't eat mint. Little girl doesn't speak or understand the foreign thinking give her a 100 baht that was all he had. Sounds like the little girl wasn't trying to sell him more but giving him more because he paid more.

Second foreigner comes into the conversation in the middle he too doesn't understand English or coming in the middle upset two week million already gave but upset he doesn't hear what is being said everything out of control? ????

Some of those young street's urchins ones are nothing but pests, skilled in getting money out of foreigners by making them feeling guilty for having money, been here long enough to come across them many, many times, best to pay no minds to any of them...

They may feel like pests obviously because their job is to pester. But they're actually victims and it's all organized. And sad.

This story is totally confusing because of so much info jammed into one huge paragraph. It initially gave me the impression that the knucklehead foreigner gave the girl 100 baht for candy.  But in reality didn’t want the candy.  But the little girl was insisting to give him the candy.  I could be wrong but I don’t think she was trying to get more money.  She was pestering him so eventually he lost his temper.  Then other persons stepped in.  An an altercation ensued.
Then from how it appears the guy showed his credit card at one point This guy was an idiot.  If he didn’t want to buy anything he should have ignored her.  And he could of just kept walking away until she gave up.  Once he gave her the money he set himself up for being possibly annoyed.

I would never have even interacted with a lone underage girl at that time of night, and giving her 100b is just pure foolishness.

Agreed because the RTP could be using that girl to stich people up perhaps and when in receipt of candy the RTP do a shakedown for the candy to be found containing drugs. Best stay well clear

No price was given in the first place and actually my girlfriend picked up a few candy from her. The guy interfered spoke perfectly good English. I was there and it was like she wanted more money.

Agree, I think he gave it ge get rid of her.

It's very possible the girl was pushing for more cash because she hasn't achieved the total she neeeds to go back to her mother/minder with the cash.

And maybe she's in a situation where if she'sshort she'll get a beating. It happens, been reported in the mainstream news many times before.

He never lost his temper. Not even when the interfering foreigner started to make a mess this guy is always calm. And the kindest and most generous person I know.

He ignored her long time. She insisted to push.

Why did not the guy listen to him when he say he gave one 100 already and more or lees tried to force him to give more. And when he didn’t he gave the girl money instead.

Obviously I can´t speculate what this fellow was doing in this particular neighborhood, but most of the foreigners in that part of town are `tricks,` using economic power to sexually exploit young females.  I´m sure it gets annoying, especially to a little girl who has to live in that environment, and whom I have no doubt has seen more than her share of extremely repulsive foreigners on  their worst behavior in that part of town.   I know for sure her behavior would have been seriously frowned upon in the Thai boonies where I spent about a year.  See, tricks, well, they get treated like tricks.  Doesn't matter if it´s Thailand, New York or Timbuktu.  When your 18 year old sister, or your friend's sister is getting banged on a daily basis by grossly overweight and supremely unattractive septuagenarians pumped up on too much alcohol and Viagra, and waving around way too much money, you become intimately familiar with the attitude known as contempt.

Sounds like a simple language misunderstanding.

All foreigners must be newbies or drunk otherwise they would know to walk away from any confrontation with Thai people. Your all lucky the motorbike taxi drivers did not get involved.

No need to give her 100 baht. He could have paid her 20 baht and just accepted the candy from the little girl then give it to one of the bargirls nearby. I don't know why people get into so much drama in these simple situations.

Why do people behave like this? Ok, I agree show a CC to a begging person is not nice, but she was annoying him several times. He showed it to show he didn't have any more cash.

Best to 'look though' beggars like they don't exist.

Yesterday a friend of mine almost got into a fight with a foreigner when we were out at Sukhumvit. There was an underaged girl maybe 10 years out at midnight selling small packages of some candy. He gave her 100 baht. She come back and show the candy. He say he didn't want it and that he can not eat mint. She punch him in the back with the candy bucket. He say he don’t want it and say he gave her his last cash. She drag his shirt. He say he don’t want and again NO CASH. She started to stare at him. He say no more cash, got a bit annoyed and showed her his CreditCard asking can you take another 100 from this. Of cause she could not. Another foreigner noticed and got upset and say "You don’t do that to a kid". He tried to explain that he gave 100 already and just didn't want to be bothered by the little girl any more. The foreigner started to make a mess and screamed "Just give her 20 Baht and if you do not giver her 20 Baht I do". My friend told him "I gave her 100 Baht already" He did not listen. I also try to tell him my friend gave the Girl 100 baht already. He got more and more angry. Started to scream at my friend and guards started to show up. And then he told my friend to give the girl 100 Baht, he say "I gave her 100 already" then the Foreigner Showed him 100 baht note and shouted "If you do not give the girl 100 Baht I will do" and he gave the girl another 100 Baht My friend tried to tell him again that he gave her 100 already. But seamed like he only got more angry. We just left...

What does this teach the poor little girl? If she annoy people enough she will get another 100 baht? Girls in that age should not be out that time anyway.

So........................................did you give her 100 Baht or not ?

Its not quite clear as to whether you did or not

Only a trash bully would goad  a street kid  with a credit  card. You need to find  new friends. You are both lucky her Thai minder didn't trash  you and your friend - to a round of applause from other foreigners and  Thais alike.

Once again you are viewing it from  a negative angle.

Sounds like he wasn't "goading" the Child , but was showing the Child a ATM card to show that's all he had on him and didn't have any cash .

Once again you are felang bashing for no reason , he was showing the card to show he had no cash, rather than showing the card to "goad"

I was in a bar last night about 10pm, in walks a kid that looked like he was barely 5 years old, going from falang to falang trying to sell his flowers.  When he tugged on my shirt, I quickly gave him the "no thank you" face.

Why anyone would give a underage girl 100b on the street late at night to just go away, is asking for trouble.

Not really, young beggers\hawkers are not unusual, especially in Cambodia, if you want to give a little money people aren't going to jump to conclusions

You'd need to be insane to eat anything sold to you by a beggar.

Who knows where it's been or how it was packaged/stored.

Could be contaminated by disease or chemicals.
