onthedarkside Posted June 9, 2022 Share Posted June 9, 2022 WASHINGTON — The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol plans to open its case to the public Thursday night by “connecting the dots” between then-President Donald Trump’s efforts to overthrow the 2020 election and the deadly insurrection. To illustrate Trump’s role in the violence, the committee will employ a multimedia presentation during a primetime hearing that will be carried live on most networks Thursday. It will feature taped testimony from former Trump officials as well as from the president’s own family, according to aides for the committee. While many details of Trump’s efforts to overturn his election loss and prevent the peaceful transfer of power have already been laid out in public, the House committee is promising to provide explosive new revelations that it obtained during its months-long investigation. January 6 was a violent attack on the Capitol staged with the intent of preventing the legal certification of the election. That's exactly why Trump lost despite getting more votes than any sitting president, the size of the protest was bigger than his support.
