Siam Rath went to Khon Kaen yesterday afternoon on the first day when it was legal to grow marijuana at home.

Their headline suggested that there was now no need to fear the police.

People in Ban Nong Kham, Ban Ped sub-district, Muang district were very happy.

They had brought out their plants that previously were hidden in back gardens or inside.

They were loosening the soil, adding fetilizer, watering and most important of all getting the plants into the full sunlight to aid their growth.

Most said they were not doing this commercially, they would add the plant to "Tom Kai" and "Tom Pla" to add flavor meaning MSG was now no longer necessary.

Or they were using the plant to help with stress, diabetes or insomnia.

Dr Phakdee Sapphiphat of the Khon Kaen Department of Health asked the public to inform the authorities if they are growing, how many plants and why.

Though he acknowledged that if they didn't they were not breaking the law. He just wanted co-operation in the matter.

He said that the actual law was a work in progress and everyone was waiting for the cabinet to come up with that.

He said that the health department had been inundated with inquiries and he asked people to use an online app instead of calling.

Those plants all look a bit thin and straggly.

Perhaps like me they need a bit more sun.

pot plants love lots of sun

I suspect the primo stuff will be grown under lights indoors to control the day/night light ratio that triggers flowering.

At least that’s what a friend told me…????

I've seen local plants and  thought the same thing, even though they were in full sun. These plants are not the huge 'Christmas trees' I grew in Colorado, but the still had proportional size buds/kolas . Also, they are not mind-bending buds but they do a decent job. Wild guess is ~5% THC.

I'm suspect it's just a species native to Thailand.

It will be interesting to see what imported varieties show up in the next few months.

True, I'm sure.

Back in the day before legalization in America one had to either plant later in the summer or prune the plants to keep height down in the vegetative stage before the shorter days came in autumn and they started flowering.

A fifteen to twenty foot tree tends to attract attention.

My experience, once a plant is big enough it will flower no matter what the light conditions.

Only autoflowers do that. All others stay in veg state until they start getting 12 hours daylight.

You're wrong.

I lost control of this Lemon Kush (planted in Feb), grew too large for my tent so I just left it sitting in front of the window to do what it liked. In May it flowered, and in July I harvested it.

Still in veg.
