Some health researchers and physicians have warned that the uptick suggests a new wave of infections is coming

U.K. Covid-19 cases have risen for the first time in two months, according to new data, which warns of a possible further spike ahead.

A total of 989,800 people tested positive for the virus in the week from May 27 to June 2 — up from 953,900 a week earlier — estimates from the U.K.'s Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed Friday.

That figure equates to around 1.5% of the population, or one in 65 people.

It comes at a time when Health Secretary Sajid Javid has dubbed the country "properly post-pandemic."

If vaccines work as they are supposed to then infections should be expected and should be mild enough to manage without overwhelming the health system. These hysterical media releases are intended to engender fear in order to get media "hits".

The devastation of world economies due to the last 2 years of covid could well spiral into a worsening of global security if we don't learn to move forward and accept that this disease is here but manageble.

Governments should use this as a lesson learnt about how critical our healthcare workers are and look after them and encourage more healthcare workers into the industry, as more will be needed. Maybe pay nurses, orderlies, hospital support staff and some doctors more and pay politicians and some overpaid doctors less in order to reward the people who actually have had to carry the covid load.

This isn't serious, the effects are no different to a mild case of flu at the worst. Covid-19 is endemic. We don't test for other endemic viruses in the population, if we did we would find exactly the same rise and fall in infections for those viruses throughout the country. We need to stop testing for Covid-19 unless someone is hospitalised (or dies of the infection). This is what happens with other infections, why is Covid different?

The media agenda of promoting fear and paranoia is my guess
