Moving homes in Thailand can be stressful

Featured Replies

In the moving stakes I'd classify stress inducing as being in a buying/selling chain with that uncertainty and legal process, packing up a house full of possessions to a new part of the country you're not 100% familiar with, and doing so with an accompanying family with the kids resettlement and education to think of.

A single guy, renting a condo deciding to move a km or 2 down the road with worldly goods that can fit in a couple of pick up runs doesn't really cut it in my scale of stressful relocations. A couple of days minor inconvenience and reorganisation and you're sorted.

If I move more than once in the next 20 years it will have been once too much. I'd like to see how this area changes/develops over the next decade before my potential one and only move. Perhaps another part of the country might look more appealing by then.

Agreed, the one that did sell quickly I thought was a low price.

Ergo seller was motivated and wanted to move on.

Initially we lived by the beach, wanted the mountains so we moved to the opposite end of the country to Chiang Rai. After a few years there decided the flatlands in Udon Thani would work as near family.  That worked for a divorce. Then moved to the Phils, Manila then Cebu (put all my stuff into storage here in BKK first) and then 6 months later headed back to BKK because the Phils didnt do it for me). Now looking at moving back to the beach, my how things go in a circle every 20 years ......
