onthedarkside
The findings go on to say leaving the EU has pushed up the cost of living, seen investment fall and the UK lose market share in key areas Brexit has damaged Britain's competitiveness, will reduce productivity and leave the average worker poorer than they otherwise would have been, according to a new study. The Resolution Foundation said leaving the EU has reduced how open and competitive Britain's economy is. And it goes further to say it has also led to an increase in cost of living and the level of business investment falling. The report, in collaboration with the London School of Economics, said this was all as a result of a "depreciation-driven inflation spike" following Brexit. Popular Post itsari
I am one of the 49 percent that was more than happy that the UK was an active member of the EU . Now as the article points out the UK is experiencing higher inflation that will result in a lower valued state pension for many pensioners living in Thailand . What worries me most is now the UK Government is wanting to make laws that will distance them selves from the European Human rights . Hastened by the European Human Rights court decision to stop the UK government transporting refugees to Rwanda .

How refreshing, normally they blame everything on COVID and the little war in Ukraine. 1

Popular Post bannork
You leave the world's largest trading bloc which conveniently lies on your doorstep in the vain hope of finding new markets half a world away. Popular Post candide
Two priceless quotes from the OP: "It said Britain has experienced a decline of 8% in trade openness - trade as a portion of economic output - since 2019, losing market share across three of its largest non-EU goods import markets in 2021, the US, Canada and Japan." "The report added the North East is expected to be hit hardest by Brexit as its firms are particularly reliant on exports to the EU". Basically, North-East voters shot themselves in the foot 4
Popular Post moogradod
I am not an Englishman, but I have followed the Brexit discussions of the British Parliament when those were due, every night on the Guardian Blog.. I rarely have been entertained so very well. But I have always hoped for all people on the island that it wont happen. But it did and now they are reaping the fruits as anticipated. Lock Boris and The Donald up sharing one cell. Maybe there is even a chance that they will get a proper free haircut. 2 1

Still it would make for interesting tv just watching them both try to outdo each other in the lies and bs they would spew out. 1

As usual It's the poor worker -the people who have been "left behind", and who have been lured by the enticement of the Brexiter siren's song- who will pay the price. While others will fill their pockets by speculating. 2 1
Hi from France
Labour has a plan to fix the problem Quote Brexit referendum, the shadow foreign secretary, David Lammy, confirmed the party would seek only limited changes and would not seek to rejoin the single market which would bring the return of free trade and free movement of people. “We are not going into the next election saying that we will enter the single market or the EU. (...) Quote the party would seek to sign an agrifood agreement; to restore visa-free business travel for touring musicians and performers, and seek to improve haulage arrangements. It would also seek to restore mutual recognition for professional qualifications such as accountants and architects, seal a deal on financial equivalence for the City of London and secure associate membership of the EU’s £80bn Horizon Europe science funding network, something the EU is delaying because of the row over the Northern Ireland protocol. Without rejoining the single market or customs union, Labour’s approach amounts to a renegotiation of the trade deal which will come under regular review by both sides. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/jun/23/labour-unveil-plans-to-seek-limited-changes-to-brexit-deal Minimalist, looks like minor fixes Do you think it could work ? Renegociation still means the eu would ask for something in return, what would it be ? . Edited June 24, 2022 by Hi from France
