Traffic Ho Chi Minh City Expands Key Road to Ease Traffic and Flooding
File photo for reference only In a significant stride towards improving urban congestion and infrastructure, a section of Chu Van An Street in Binh Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, has been dramatically widened. Over the past six months, this project, which aims to alleviate persistent traffic jams and flooding issues, has expanded the road to four times its original size, now stretching from 5-6 metres to a substantial 23 metres. Funded with over VND1 trillion (approximately 1.3 billion Thai Baht) from the state budget, this urban improvement began in February and is slated for completion by November. Managed by local authorities, it includes the installation of new drainage systems, lighting, and landscaping, transforming the 600-metre stretch from Binh Hoa Intersection to the Phan Chu Trinh junction into a vital thoroughfare with four lanes. The challenge of land reclamation saw over 14,000 square metres acquired, impacting 166 households. While 11 families faced full relocation, 155 others contributed partial property for the greater good. These efforts have been supported by nearly VND982 billion (about 1.28 billion Thai Baht) directed towards land clearance costs. Progress has been steady as the construction team advances with installing drainage pipes and laying gravel. Workers have been busy levelling the ground to ensure better drainage and reduce incidents of flooding, which has been a frequent issue, particularly after heavy rains such as the downpour on 5th August. Despite some challenges with timely implementation—such as dangling power lines still waiting to be relocated—significant developments are evident. A section of the road has already been paved, and renovations are underway for numerous homes along the path, making way for the road's expansion. Do Xuan Nam, a local coffee shop proprietor, remarked on the project's dual impact. "I'm happy the road is being widened, but the slow progress is affecting my business," he said, after having to move his shop’s frontage back by 8 metres. Chu Van An Street, nearly 2 km in length, is a critical conduit in Binh Thanh, linking major streets like Dinh Bo Linh, Phan Chu Trinh, and Phan Van Tri within the dense inner areas of Ho Chi Minh City. The notorious bottleneck from Binh Hoa Intersection to Phan Chu Trinh Street should soon see relief, with the improvements promising to ease daily commutes and enhance business conditions. Overall, this project embodies a crucial step forward in addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges in one of Vietnam’s busiest cities, aiming to deliver a smoother and more sustainable urban environment for residents and businesses alike. Spot on with your comments and there are plenty of pics "out there" showing her in soft porn shots, so she should keep quiet for fear of a broader backlash............I would think that this would be the first time that a major world power has a convicted felon and rapist, not to mention multi bankrupt as its leader, accompanied by a soft porn model who has been seen naked by those who view such pics. OOPS, almost forgot the dumb bit......... -

Report Vietnam Handbag Scam Dupes Hundreds with Bargain Lures
Photo courtesy of VN Express In a major social media scam, police in Ho Chi Minh City are investigating a man accused of deceiving hundreds by selling supposed luxury handbags at irresistible prices. Nguyen Duc Quan, 28, is at the centre of this scheme which, since August 2022, has allegedly swindled unsuspecting buyers through slick Instagram accounts, “suu.authentic” and “authentic.atluxe.” These pages showcased alluring photos of Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and YSL handbags, all advertised as genuine but offered at a fraction of their retail cost. According to investigators, Quan hooked customers with promises of authentic designer bags at bargain prices. However, once a deal was struck, customers were required to provide full payment or a substantial deposit upfront. Many victims reported that upon transferring funds, they were swiftly blocked from contacting him. In some unfortunate instances, the goods that arrived were alleged to be poorly made counterfeits. Quan then severed all communications, leaving customers frustrated with no channel for recourse. Police have tallied the scheme's earnings at over VND6 billion (roughly 8.6 million Thai Baht), revealing the substantial scale of the deceit. This case underscores a growing trend of online scams targeting fashion enthusiasts eager for luxury at discounted rates. As authentic brands become more expensive, counterfeit markets flourish, often using sophisticated online platforms to ensnare victims. Authorities have advised consumers to remain vigilant, ensuring purchases are made through verified retailers or official brand stores. Deals that seem too good to be true often are, a lesson painfully learned by many in this unfolding scandal. Efforts to track down Quan continue, as victims grow anxious for justice and potential restitution. The case has sparked discussions on the need for more stringent regulations and monitoring of online sales channels, particularly on social media platforms. For those familiar with luxury goods, the appeal of owning coveted brands at slashed prices is undeniable. However, this incident is a stark reminder of the risks involved with seemingly straightforward digital transactions. This developing situation serves as a cautionary tale. While digital shopping offers convenience, it demands the buyer's discernment, especially when dealing with high-value items. As more information emerges, consumers are urged to stay informed and share such stories to prevent further injustices. Considering the global reach of platforms like Instagram, the case also highlights a potential need for cooperative international efforts in tackling cross-border internet fraud. For now, the focus remains on bringing Nguyen Duc Quan to justice and recovering losses for the affected individuals. Victims are holding out hope for a resolution while grappling with the aftermath of this digital deception. As this investigation unfolds, it is a timely reminder for consumers to verify the legitimacy of sellers, particularly when engaging with brands renowned for their counterfeits in a market rife with elusive traps for the unwary shopper.
