A man in the US state of Ohio has been charged with raping a 10-year-old girl who had to cross state lines for an abortion after her home state restricted the procedure.

Gershon Fuentes, 27, appeared in court in Columbus on Wednesday.

The unnamed girl's plight has drawn international attention.

US President Joe Biden cited it at the White House as he slammed abortion restrictions, but sceptics had questioned if it was a hoax.

So turns out this little girl may have only been 9 years old when this happened according to the OP link. 

 

I hope the sceptics such as congressman Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, who had tweeted on Tuesday that the story was "another lie" and Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost who said there is “not a whisper” of evidence to backup the story have the decency to acknowledge they were wrong and do so publicly. The very least they should do.

The man charged with raping and impregnating a 10-year-old girl in Ohio — forcing the child to cross state lines in order to get an abortion — allegedly entered the country illegally, according to a report.

Gershon Fuentes, 27, who was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony rape the following day, is an undocumented Guatemalan immigrant who crossed into the US unlawfully, Fox News reported, citing Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Fuentes was charged after he confessed to sexually assaulting the young girl at least twice, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

One thing is for certain and that is Fuentes has been in the country since Biden has been president, and the child rape occurred during Biden's presidency. All the time, Biden had it as his responsibility to enforce US immigration law and deport illegal aliens. How many illegals has Biden deported from the US interior and Ohio, for instance? Why didn't Fuentes fear getting deported more than carrying out a child rape? Why are hundreds and thousands of illegals pouring across the border even as I write this?

This is not about Biden its about the rape of a 9/10 year old who then had to travel to the next state to get a termination because it was not possible in Ohio.

 

From what you're implying every crime attributed to an immigrant is now Biden's fault, lets have a little reality here................

Perhaps those in the media and others would not have given their opinion about the case (that has since turned out to be wrong) if the authorities had moved, or made an announcement about the investigation into the perpetrator, before there was a few day's room to doubt the circumstances. 

 

This arrest only came a few days after the "hoax" hooha suggested that the absence of an investigation or arrest was decidedly odd.  And it was.

In 2015, he moved to Columbus, Ohio where he had a steady job at a café.

On May 12, 2022, he allegedly impregnated a girl, then 9.

On June 22, 2022, the mother of the girl he allegedly impregnated filed a referral with the Franklin County Children Services, informing the Columbus Police Department about the girl’s pregnancy. That day, the girl referenced him as the suspect who raped her.

On June 30, 2022, the girl he allegedly impregnated underwent a medical abortion in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. The girl, who just turned 10, was helped by Dr. Caitlin Bernard.

You have to admit that it certainly is questionable that a 9 or 10 year old girl would have reached puberty.  Certainly not out of the question but somewhat unusual. 

A couple of points.  Ohio only restricts abortion after there is a fetal heartbeat.  So the girl could have terminated the pregnancy, at any time prior to that occuring. 

If she reported the rape the hospital would have likely given her a morning after pill which are effective for up to five days, they are also available without prescription at any pharmacy.  If longer than 5 days but before a fetal heartbeat, a D&E could have been performed to end the pregnancy. 

One way or another the situation described is meant to tug the heartstrings of those who point to it as a reason for abortion.  The fact is, that in the USA there were 622,000 abortions last year.  42% of those were to women seeking their second, third, or fourth abortion.  That number is likely low since it is based solely on what the women told the clinic performing the abortion and some may have been embarrased to say they had had an abortion previously. 

I can certainly favor abortions in the case of rape, incest, or where the baby has a severe birth defect.  Those however would be rare and not amount to anywhere's close to the 622,000 thousand.  The fact is that both men and women are irresponsible and using an abortion to erase the consequences of their irresponsibility. 

I have to admit I find it extremely hypocritical that many of the same people who push for abortion also push to fine and even imprison people who so much as disturb a sea turtle or eagles egg.  And those are still eggs and more importantly not human.  

Though it will never be 100% effective the answer lies in getting people to responsibly deal with their choice to have sex.  Those instances of rape, incest, or severe birth deformaties can and should be the exceptions and not the wholesale slaughter of unborn children.  

The other point that is very hypocritical is that of the 622,000 abortions 40% are to black women, though blacks make up only about 13% of the USA population.  I guess BLM only sometimes.

Some folks have an ability to multi focus. in my opinion when the story broke the fact that a 10 yr old was raped was the true story.

Do the new super restrictive abortion laws in many states triggered by Roe vs Wade falling diiffer based on immigration status of the oppressed women or birth father consensual or not?

If not then immigration is 100 percent OFF TOPIC to the abortion debate.
