mikejphuket Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 A recent storm broke off a fairly large branch from a sandlewood tree on my property. I understand that the wood is valuable, but have no idea what to do next; hence this post. Thanks for any info .
farmerjo Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 I would get in touch with the government forestry department to see what the rules and regulations are. An old article but there maybe still factories around you could get a sample to. http://korat-info.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=588 2

kickstart Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 I can not see t being worth a lot ,no exactly a large tree , some short lengths, not very straight by the time it has been trimmed up, bark taken off ,they will not be a lot of left . Anyone who is in to wood turning ,or wood carving would buy it off you for certain ,that could be made in to some nice bows and vases ,have a look at Thai Facebook might be something on there.

I don't believe sandalwood is normally used for woodworking. It is a source of fragrant oil. Wild( illegal) sandalwood can go for several tens of thousands a kilo and up depending on the age of the tree. Young trees are not a good source of oil.
