They've only just allowed bars to open and operate normally and now he asks people to refrain from drinking alcohol for three months.

Luckily, the vast majority will simply ignore him.

It's easy to stop alcohol sales by administrative order, but how does he want to 'stop disease and Covid-19' that way?

You haven't cottoned on to his thinking, diseases and COVID-19 are contracted by drinking alcohol, and it used to be after 9pm hence the curfews.

No alcohol what a waste of good enjoyment time (my own perspective expressed her only). I spent many decades working, exhibiting self-restraint, delaying gratification etc etc . Now I am retired, fancy free (pretty much) I'll be rear-end interfered with if I am going to go along with this no Prosecco, no Champagne no nice cold beer nitwittery lol ???????? ... Fancy a drink anyone?!

The Deputy Spokesperson added that the government also encouraged the public to refrain from drinking during the three-month Buddhist Lent, which will begin from July 14th onwards.

Nah... sorry.
