But I have to ask why there is an open utility hole in a national park which is teeming with elephants, some with babies. It's an accident waiting to happen. Common sense would suggest that this hole should either be covered with a heavy steel lid (able to withstand the weight of an elephant), or a strong steel fence around it. Common sense? I The drain was on a golf course - next to the park. That can be clearly seen in photographs in The Times. The mother and calf had crossed a road to get to the golf course.
