The Thai Transport Ministry’s mega project to build a high-speed, dual-track railroad system and motorways at a total cost of 5.7 trillion baht was targeted by the Opposition during the 4-day censure debate beginning yesterday (Tuesday). Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob later defended the project today, insisting that it will boost the economy rather than wasting money, as alleged.

Move Forward MP Surachet Praweenwongwut said during the debate on Tuesday that the mega project will incur public debt amounting to more than 80,000 baht for every Thai citizen.

He said that the mega infrastructure plan, otherwise known as the “MR-Map” project, was initiated by Saksayam and approved by Prime Minister Prayut, and that it will be a waste of taxpayers’ money, because it is not worth the investment and duplicates other similar infrastructure projects.

That's ridiculous.

I'd also check who bought the land it would run through recently and who owns the companies that would supply all the building materials.

Thai politicians are self-serving nincompoops born with half a brain.  All schemes are concocted to swell their personal fortunes. The three/four year 'improvement' of Sukhumvit is a case in point.  It's the main artery for Pattaya but has been choked for years with millions of baht wasted on it.  Now they are working on building a road parallel to it fifty metres alongside it!

Not worth the investment, depends where some of it ends up?

And of course which choice construction parts Sino Thai Construction will be awarded or have a hand in...

As those crooks are too greedy, they will never even get a feasibility study started.

In other countries they start thinking after seeing the result of long-term planning of public transportation. This, in itself, contains various minefields in Thailand:

- longterm (they can't handle short term, to start with)
- planning (a word borrowed from overseas without any local understanding whatsoever)
- public (that's the crowd to be taken for a big ride on the governmental merry-go-round)
- transportation (flip flops for walking and the back of a pick-up for the rest)

I rest my case; don't get excited if one of the Chidchob boys went over the moon again ..... it is written in the bible already "Lord, forgive them for they have not the slightest clue of what they do" .....

I take it that Saksayam recovered from his Covid-19 stint in a female environment some 15 months ago without any further hinderances ........
