Pattaya — Land prices in Pattaya have surged by 42.83% while the areas near Pattaya Beach Road become the most expensive reportedly due to the vast budget invested by the Thai government in the Eastern Economic Corridor scheme (EEC).

Finance Min retains 2022 GDP growth projection at 3.5%

BANGKOK (NNT) - The recovery of the tourism sector is expected to continue, with state agencies now expecting an international arrival figure of about 8 million this year. This has compelled the Ministry of Finance to retain its GDP growth forecast of 3.5% for 2022.

Suitable private labs will be allowed to test for monkeypox, no new case yet

Private laboratories in Thailand will be allowed to test specimens of suspected monkeypox infection, in addition to facilities at major hospitals and the Department of Medical Sciences, Deputy Public Health Minister Sathit Pitutecha said today (Wednesday), as the government confirms that no new infections have been identified in the country, following the first case in a Nigerian man in Phuket.

Talks held between Thailand and Saudi Arabia to set cooperation framework

A high-level Thai delegation was in Saudi Arabia on July 25th and 26th to hold discussions between counterparts to form a framework of cooperation in investment and other areas, according to Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Anucha Burapachaisri.

House panel allows same-sex foreign couples to register civil partnership in Thailand

The House committee vetting the Civil Partnership Bill decided today (Wednesday) to amend the bill to make it possible for same-sex couples who are both foreigners to register their partnership in Thailand, instead of one of them having to be a Thai national.

Cabinet approves Sep-Oct round of stimulus campaigns

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Cabinet has approved the government’s stimulus payment packages for eligible persons for the months of September and October, in the form of an extension to the existing stimulus campaigns. This includes a 400 baht per person allowance for the state welfare card program and an 800 baht per person co-pay credit.

DMS: BA.4 & BA.5 Omicron subvariants produce more severe symptoms than BA.2

BANGKOK (NNT) - Covid patients infected by the BA.5 Omicron subvariant are now found in greater numbers than those with the BA.4 subvariant. Both strains have been found to produce symptoms more severe than those caused by the BA.2 strain. Nonetheless, health authorities are asserting that booster shots of the vaccine help to prevent severe symptoms.

Cabinet approves ฿10.9 billion for new zoo in Pathum Thani

The cabinet has approved a total budget of 10.9 billion baht, spread over the 2023 to 2027 fiscal years, for the construction of a new zoo in the outskirts of Bangkok, with a mini zoo to be trialled for the public in August, a partial opening scheduled for 2026 and the full opening in 2028, according to Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek.

BMA prepares for Chao Phraya River overflows from end of July
