US votes against the free world at UN
I've seen some utter clownery posted on the Internet but suggesting that the Allies did not join with Russia to defeat Germany is staggering. I cannot believe that any man with a functioning IQ put that in writing. The difference between FDR and Churchill was that Churchill knew he was dealing with a snake in Stalin. There was an infamous drinking session between Stalin and Churchill which some of you should read up about. Educational. My assessment is that up to and including Yalta, FDR did regard Russia as an ally. In fact, I reckon FDR believed Stalin to be an ally until the day he died. Churchill knew that Yalta was a disaster and was deeply concerned as to how generous in spirit FDR was to Stalin. My second assessment is that FDR's illness played a part in his misjudgement. I said it before, here goes again. This concept that there were clear winners during WW2 is a wilful misreading of history. We know who lost, but never forget the Allies abandoned half of Europe to the Communists, the USA then endured 50 years of the Cold War and lost far too many men in battle against communist expansionism worldwide. You call this victory? And the Brits were bankrupted, to the point they had to walk away from the Empire. The Suez Canal seized which gave rise to a wave of Arab Nationalism with all the attendant problems were are still experiencing to this day. Once again - here's what happened at the end of WW2. The Allies looked at the Russian lines and decided to abandon vast tracts of territory in exchange for peace. That's an uncomfortable fact. The Berlin Blockade was a disaster for the West. The Allies abandoned many old sovereign states. And you go on about history repeating itself? Correct - The Allies - now in the form of the EU, and NATO - will again judge it's better to surrender land than run headlong into Russian military units. So when you refer to history - make sure you understand - the West walked away in 1945 - and they are going to do it again as no sane EU head of state is prepared to send troops into battle against Russia. Not one.
