My wife is a Thai travelling on an Aussie passport and her intension is to stay with her family in Bangkok. The ideal situation is to apply for a TV single entry in au and then extend this visa a further 30 days. The questions are:

1. On arrival does the family need to register her as she is staying with them?

2. Normally they never register her and we just leave before the 60 days. In this case if they do not register her will there be a fine when she goes to extend her TV at the 60 day period for 30 days?

3. If they do need to register her exactly how do they do this? Where do they go to do this? They are just householders, not a hotel or business, what's the simple way to do this for ordinary family people?

4. Where are the locations to make the extension in Bangkok? Is that Chaweng Wattana the only place?

Just trying to find the simplest way for her to do a 2 and half Month holiday with family. Thank you.

She doesn't have a Thai passport at all? She could enter with an expired Thai passport

Why does she not have a Thai passport? She can have and use both passports. Leave using  her Australian passport and enter here using her Thai a passport. She can even enter with a expired passport.

She also get a certificate of identity from the embassy in Canberra or the consulate in Sydney instead of a tourist visa. See: https://canberra.thaiembassy.org/emergency-travel-document/

Then apply for a Thai passport that takes less than a week to get here.

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. The would complete a TM30 form to report her arrival at their home.

4. Chaeng Wattana if she has tourist visa.

Thanks for the reply mate. The problem is that we got married 32 years ago and she never changed her name in Thailand. She has had my surname since marriage and shortly after became an Australian citizen. Her name and ID card in Thailand is still her maiden name and the passports would not match up.

So this TM30 report is done in person at CW or can it be done online? Thanks.

That can easily be sorted out during a trip to here. Many people have passports with their maiden name on them and are still able to use it to travel and enter Thailand.

It is possible to do it online but it requires her parents to register online to it. See: https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/

Its super easy in Thailand to change names, just visit the District Office where she is registered and its changed on the spot.

You can get Thai PP at Chaengwattana, if you apply before 9 am you can get it the same day.

I don't she would need to apply for a passport and pay extra to get it on the same day and the Department of Consular Affairs on Chaeng Wattana road is not the only place in Bangkok where it can be done.
