Car Bursts into Flames After Fuel System Change
Picture from responders. On the evening of 4 January, a car erupted in flames and was completely destroyed at the Bok Klob intersection in Naphru Subdistrict, Phra Phrom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The driver managed to escape unharmed, but the vehicle was engulfed by fire despite efforts by firefighters to extinguish the blaze. According to Pol Col Sangob Jansing, Superintendent of Phra Phrom Police Station, the car, registered in Nakhon Si Thammarat, caught fire while being driven home. Witnesses reported hearing unusual sounds from the vehicle before flames began erupting from the engine compartment. The fire quickly intensified, leaving the car completely gutted by the time emergency crews arrived. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and attempted to control the blaze, but it had spread too rapidly to save the vehicle. The owner of the car stated that the vehicle had recently undergone repairs at a local garage, where the fuel system was switched from LPG gas to petrol. The fire broke out during the return journey after this modification. The owner also noted that the vehicle was not currently covered by insurance. The owner expressed suspicion that the fire may have been caused by errors made during the modification of the fuel system. Investigations are ongoing, and police are working to determine whether the garage’s work was responsible for the incident. Authorities from Phra Phrom Police Station are conducting a detailed investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of fuel system modifications and the accountability of repair garages. Motorists are advised to ensure that modifications to fuel systems are carried out by certified professionals and to regularly inspect vehicles for potential safety issues. -- 2025-01-06 -

Thai Club Faces Backlash for Customer ID Photos
In Nonthaburi province, a well-known entertainment venue in Bang Yai is under scrutiny after allegations arose of staff photographing customers' ID cards for potential profiteering. This has prompted numerous customers to report concerns to local police, with 65 formal complaints filed so far and more trickling in. One of the complainants, 21-year-old Mr. Pharaoh, narrated his experience to reporters. He recounted multiple visits to the venue from 2023 to 2024, noting that staff consistently took photos of customers' ID cards and faces upon entry. Initially taken aback by this practice, he assumed it was standard procedure. However, growing concerns over identity misuse, particularly with rising scams, compelled him to seek advice from his family and file a report with Bang Yai police. Another complainant, Ms. Siriwan, 31, shared an unsettling incident involving photographs. She visited the club for a delayed birthday celebration, during which a concert was held. Her cleavage was photographed and posted on the club's Facebook page as part of a promotion for drink rewards. Although faces weren't shown, a friend recognised her in the photos and alerted her. Alarmed by the potential for misuse of her ID information, she also decided to report the incident. Both individuals stress that while the club hasn't linked ID photos to individual faces, the practice has raised serious privacy and security concerns. They urge others to be cautious, although they acknowledge that scams can arise through various means, reported Siam Rath. -- 2025-01-06 -

EV Charging Stations (CS)
Our preference and use mostly, EV Station Pluz & PEA, usually at Bangchak locations. MG Super Chargers if first 2 aren't available. Have used Elexa, and like, but not a lot of them around. Do need to test the Altervim app one of these days, as having at local Lotus's. Regrettably have the eVolt app w/1000 baht on it, that I doubt we'll ever use, as very few fast charger outside of Krung Thep area. Avoid registering on that. Haven't needed to use any other app, and think we only have EA Anywhere on the phone, just never got around to using. -

Malaysian Tourist’s Car Crashes into Fruit Cart and Shops in Songkhla, Injuring Two
Pictures from responders. A car driven by a Malaysian tourist lost control and crashed into a fruit vendor’s sidecar cart, before ploughing into three roadside shops in Songkhla’s Sadao district, leaving two people injured. Police Colonel Surachit Phetjom, superintendent of Sadao Police Station, received a report of the crash, which occurred on Kanjanavanich Road in front of Wat Sri Vites Sangkaram School in Samnak Kham subdistrict, Sadao district. Upon arriving at the scene with investigators and emergency responders, authorities found a white car bearing Malaysian license plate lodged inside a stationery shop. The crash caused damage to the car, the shop’s entrance, and two adjacent shops. A fruit-laden motorcycle sidecar was also damaged and left lying on the road. The crash injured two people: • Ms. Mashirat Perkliang, 27, the fruit vendor and sidecar owmer, sustained injuries, including a fractured arm and severe facial bruising. She was found unconscious at the scene. • Mr. David Yoong Wei Ming, 42, the Malaysian driver of the car, suffered head injuries and a broken nose. Eyewitnesses reported that the Malaysian vehicle was travelling at high speed when it struck the fruit vendor’s sidecar, propelling her onto the road. The car then veered off course and crashed into the roadside shops, damaging three businesses. Emergency responders from Samnak Kham transported the injured to Sadao Hospital for treatment. Police are collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the cause of the crash. Legal proceedings against the driver are expected to follow. -- 2025-01-06
