The naval base (for recruits to learn to row the old longboats) over the Bangkok Noi canal-- the notorious location of the start of flooding in 2011-- did not even have any flooding (last week it was ankle deep). Crossy Posted October 9, 2022 Author Share Posted October 9, 2022 Not really much to report, peak level last night was pretty similar to previous highs. Several days of high tides coming ???? I've also added a "Panic" indicator that I can see with the CCTV whilst in bed ???? The black line is level with our downstairs floor (there are sandbags on top too). That correlates with information told to me a few days ago that authorities are going to divert water to the east. These torrential afternoon storms aren't helping the situation here at all. The ground water is just (10/15 cm) below the storm water drains at the edge of each soi here in the village. With the volume of water dropping out of the sky the soi is soon covered. Friday's downpour wasn't evacuated until some time last night. Thankfully no rain yesterday. I'm concerned that when the water from the north arrives the newly installed pumps (4) will not be able to handle it. Pic one shows one of the above ground motors, there are three like this. Second pic shows the pump on LHS and a submersible on RHS. Third pic shows a view of the end of our soi, clear now, 1620 hrs. (we are last house on right). It's not pretty. There is a 50 cm rise between today's high (3.41 m) and the Sat 29 Oct (3.90 m). In fact the 27 to 30 Oct are bad. 31 Oct the tide starts to drop. Time to start preparations. We have plenty of food, but we can get out if we have to. We have a 4x4 pickup in the car port which I can use as a ferry to the road where the Mu-X is parked on the other side of the sandbags. There's one road out available at present, others are closed off with flood measures ???? There is actually a pedestrian gate, but the water is still pretty deep there, I like to take the car right to the sandbags (in reverse so I can load shopping directly into the bed). This flooding is the worst we've seen since we moved in in 2012.
