I don't think you can get the residency as easy as you think after two years.

Zeid, this pinned topic gives you excellent information about the road to permanent residency. Three essential minimum requirements, among many, are:

-- continuous threes years of annual extensions of stay

-- three years tax-paid income in Thailand

-- good knowledge of the Thai language

Can get a one year extension if you or your wife or combined can prove a monthly income of 40,000 Baht.

Can also get it if you are over 50 with 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank account or have 65,000 Baht monthly income.

Dont believe you will easily get permanent residence.

You get the yearly extensions from any immigration office in Thailand.

You get a letter from your embassy as proof of the monthly income.

Will need proof of marriage and the fact that you actually do live together. They sometimes visit your house and check, and talk to neighbours.
