77kaoded reported with video evidence after exposed electrical cables were found outside the offices of Ruam Katanyu rescue foundation in Bang Plee, Samut Prakan in central Thailand.

They said there were fears of a repeat of the accident in floods in Udon Thani last week when several students were electrocuted.

Staff from the foundation had put some insulating tape on, then put some tires and a cone around the wires with the words "fai rua" - a warning about electricity.

The media went to investigate amid calls for the authorities to get their fingers out and do something before more people are hurt in floods.

The media also found exposed cables about a meter up on a lamp post.

That would be a difficult spot to insulate, too.  They just need to reinstall the street light that was supposed to be standing there--two birds with one stone.

Could isolate that particular feed. That would at least be a start. The trouble is they rarely install anything to approved international standards. Until they do it will always the approval of the guy who until yesterday worked in Pizza Hut.

Why not simply pull the fuse, disconnect the wires.

Nah, too much hassle.

Just the tip of the iceberg for Udon Thani.  Safety is a non-existent word in these parts.  there are all sorts of exposed electrical wires especially when a meter is removed.  Heck no point in removing the wires leading up the pole.  There are probably more "electrician" hacks in Udon Thani than light poles. Traffic in the city is another major problem.  Speeding, erratic driving, vehicles driving in the wrong direction, illegal U-turns on a red light, red light runners etc etc etc.  All because we have no traffic police for all practical  purposes.  People, to include many of our foreign community just drive however they feel like as there's no penalty for not abiding by traffic rules.  A friend of mine asked me to describe the traffic situation here.  Two words - disorganized chaos!

Safe trusted Thailand... trusted to kill someone.

If you read this that should tell you enough.

When you see wires hanging about in Los ,Presume that they are Live.

Well it was not specifically mentioned that I saw....if they were new wires being put in for some lighting, and the other end was also stuck up in the air, it is a brouhaha about nothing!

That doesn't mean I would want to stick my tongue to one to check like an old PP9 battery!
