U.S. aircraft carrier arrives in South Korea as warning to North

BUSAN, South Korea, Sept 23 (Reuters) - A U.S. aircraft carrier arrived in South Korea on Friday for the first time in about four years, set to join other military vessels in a show of force intended to send a message to North Korea.

USS Ronald Reagan and ships from its accompanying strike group docked at a naval base in the southern port city of Busan ahead of joint drills with South Korean forces.

Its arrival marks the most significant deployment yet under a new push to have more U.S. "strategic assets" operate in the area to deter North Korea.

The problem with this war mongering current government is they are doing this on so many fronts.

 

It is as if the Military Industrial Complex needs a boost so bad via war that this government owes them the favor of providing it.

Another inexcusable failure by the biden administration. He was handed by his predecessor an historic working relationship with North Korea and he completely and utterly blew it. This failure makes the world a much more dangerous place. 

 I find it disturbing that a guy who appears lost and bewildered on stage is making provocative moves like this. Actually no, it's terrifying not disturbing.

Trump made a clear signal to both Putin and Kim.  With Putin it was his intention to withdraw from NATO if he won a 2nd term.  With Kim it was the withdrawal from the military agreement.  Even during his time in office, he wanted to withdraw all troops from South Korea.

Had Trump remained in power, we would be seeing a vastly different world and I don't believe it would have been a better one.

Reversing the groveling and kowtowing of the previous administration is not ‘war mongering’.

No he wasn’t.

 

He was handed an emboldened N. Korea with a leader that had been provided positive propaganda material while continuing with it’s military and nuclear ambitions.

Perhaps that speech could be printed on large notice boards to use as protection for American and its allies to ward off the bombs, bullets and missiles of tyrants who are repeatedly stating their military intentions.

This is false, Trump's outreach to North Korea had utterly failed by the time he left office.

The move comes just hours after the North renewed threats of military action at the Korean border.

North Korea is not simply a country with a different political approach or different world view - it is a obviously controlled by a dictator who can only keep his people, and the world, at bay by threatening death and destruction, including a nuclear arsenal that can strike harder and further, with each year that passes.

One needs to be proactive. In Adams times, we are talking about attacks by wooden war ships with cannon balls, and soldiers with bayonets. Not ballistic missiles sent from 15,000 kilometres away.

Example #1: Russia invaded Ukraine, an independent democratic sovereign state.

 

Example#2: China is actively threatening to invade Taiwan, which is a de-facto independent democratic sovereign state.

 

Example #3: North Korea is developing and testing ballistic missiles (another launch yesterday) which threaten South Korea and Japan, both independent democratic sovereign states.

 

I might be naive, unsophisticated in international relations, but I reckon there is a pattern there...
