Thai customs and livestock development officials, as well as police from the Consumer Protection Division, seized about 100 tonnes of frozen pork, worth about 21 million baht, and 35 tonnes of frozen chicken legs, worth another 700,000 baht, in a raid today (Friday) on a cold storage facility in Muang district of Samut Sakhon province.

Customs Department Director-General Patchara Anuntasilpa said that the pork, which originated in Italy, Spain and Brazil, and the chicken legs, which came from Brazil, were smuggled into Thailand via a neighbouring country.

Since July, a total of 148 tonnes of frozen meat, worth about 30 million baht, have been seized.

Smuggled Brazilian chicken legs at 20THB per KG?

What a clucked-up story.

So what you do then? You let it pass Thai borders, call your boss in Samut and HE makes the big catch.

Well dont know if they have a harbor, as then it could go by ship, but only then via Vietnam or Cambodia.

"to prevent the possible spread of African Swine Fever (ASF)".

Thats why you put it unfrozen out in the open to show and have a picture taken, well done.

Viruses or bacteries arent killed by cold, they just sleep.

It's frozen.... killing any possible infection.

Completely untrue.  Why post something as fact if you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about?  Fishing for likes?  Thankfully the officials know a lot more than you.

Swine Flu is actually more stable in frozen meat.

"CSFV can survive for variable periods in meat, with survival more likely at cold temperatures. This virus is most stable in frozen meat. Viable CSFV has been recovered from frozen pork stored for more than four years."
