The GOP dealt conservative Georgia voters a dud with Herschel Walker

Heisman Trophy winner and Republican candidate for US Senate Herschel Walker speaks at a rally on May 23, 2022 in Athens, Georgia. Tomorrow is the...

The bold way that the GOP — the pro-life party — continues to support Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker, who allegedly urged an ex-girlfriend to have an abortion and paid for the procedure, is eyebrow-raising to say the least.

Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, told NBC News that he’s “proud to stand with Herschel Walker and make sure Georgians know that he will always fight to protect them from the forces trying to destroy Georgia values and Georgia’s economy, led by Raphael Warnock.”

But surely conservative voters must have figured out by now that the GOP has dealt them a dud of a candidate.

Is there any better example of the hypocrisy that has gripped the Republican Party?

Five years ago, Walker would have sneaked away in shame, now he gets caught out having paid for the abortion of a pregnancy he caused, while calling abortion murder, and of course lies about his lies.

And Sen. Rick Scott is ‘proud to stand with him’.

‘destroying ‘Georgia values’

You couldn’t script it.

I thought one of the core principles of GOP conservatism is Human Dignity honouring marriage and family as the primary institutions of healthy society. Herschel Walker sure doesn't fit that mould. Rick Scott is placing Trumpism ahead of conservative values. Walk of shame for both.

I find this whole thing to be an embarrassment.  I can't look at pics/vids of him in the news.  Who was it that inspired him to go into politics, and what do they have in mind?

The guy is obviously a little slow and slightly out of it, and I truly feel sorry for him.  I feel he just doesn't really get it.  Another poor sob caught in the gears of the Georgia GOP.

They did, then a few years ago this guy with orange paint on his face came along and  . . ..

But in a culture of hypocrisy it's just a matter of degree.

Not long ago a porn actress who is a Maga fan showed up at CPAC, and a few minutes after letting her in they approached her and said she had to leave because of her profession.  I'm impressed!

I would like to say a pox on both of them. The people of Georgia deserve better.  I don't think either would win Father or Husband Of The Year.

Well, since presumably there's only one winner of Father of the Year, that's not much of a criterion, is it? And since being a high quality father and husband seem so important to you in a candidate for governer, can you share with us any information about Chase Oliver in that regard?
