Calvin Klein can rest easier - two Chinese pirates arrested in Bangkok

Officers of the Economic Crime Division went to a house in the Town in Town estate in the Wang Thong Lang area of Bangkok yesterday.

 

With them was Pattapong Chiangkasem from the Calvin Klein Trademark Trust.

 

Pattapong was concerned about the large quantity of fake CK goods being offered for sale in the streets and markets of the Thai capital.

 

Soon arrested were 60 year old Chuguang and his 34 year old sidekick Anxin.

Taken into evidence were brand name items such as shirts, pants, shoes, knickers and even socks.

 

All worth a cool 15 million baht.

 

The Chinese pair were detained on a charge of piracy and the goods were seized, reported Siam Rath yesterday.

The prices that CK charge for what are basically nylon underpants, I'm not surprised the counterfeiters have moved in on them.

I hope someone thinks to give them to the poor who have lost many of their possessions due to the financial aspect, also where flooding has ruined what little they had.

Seized counterfeit goods are destroyed, not distributed.  Distribution of illegal, counterfeit goods would be just as illegal as selling them and the holders of the trademark could sue.  Unfortunate but true.

The Chinese were dobbed in by the legitimate Thai pirates, probably peeved that after paying their monthly dues to the RTP that the RTP weren't keeping the foreign competition out.
