BANGKOK, Oct 12 (TNA) – The chief of defense forces ruled out the possibility of a coup and confirmed that the military stayed away from politics.

After chairing a meeting with the chiefs of the armed forces and the police, defense forces chief Gen Chalermpol Srisawat said the forces would adhere to their duties in compliance with the law governing defense forces. He answered to reporters' questions on the political outlook after the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and the possibility of subsequent House dissolution.

The military forces would carry out their duties as specified by the Ministry of Defense and act as the tools of the government that was responsible for national administration, Gen Chalermpol said.

Good laughing show from the mask men.

Do I feel they need to assure every other day?

I would be very concerned.

Very worrying that they feel they even need to assure us there will be no coup.

Yep, what a bunch of "tools".

Shame none are very sharp.

Thailand: where the motto is: There won't be a coup...until there is.

I think that if protests reach a critical mass - and I don't think they'll be allowed to approach 2020-21 levels - then there would be a sort of a self-coup, and a soft reset.

19 coups (successful and unsuccessful) since 1932.  That pushing one every 5 years.
???? Thailand's overdue.  Oh wait.  The generals are still running the show.  Nevermind.
Wait until a true civilian government is formed.  Then they'll make up for lost time.

Duh.

What's the use of a coup if you are already in power ????

I believe them.... probably they will do it before the elections as their power must be kept in place.

LOL....constant denials of an upcoming coup, just like Prayut stated before he stole the country from democracy.

If they have another, they must have one more after that, so it’s not left at an even number of coups, which would be an inauspicious number.

What a bunch of <deleted>.  A coup against the coup leader himself. Just like he promised no coup 8 years ago.  Why do they feel compelled now to say no coup, no coup, no coup!

Should not have been a coup in the first place people should be allowed to vote for the party they want the military should not be involved if you believe in democracy

so coup it is.

who can name the 3 biggest lies ?

I'll give you #1       The check is in the mail

  # 2 starts with   "I won't"

  #3 ends with     "Again"

As long as the Government keeps buying everything they ask for,

Subs , Fighter jets ,Tanks, etc ect ,

"We've fooled them for 8 years already, how easy is this"?

Isn't that what they said......just before the last coup?

He his right. No foreseeable coup. The date as not been set yet,

What did I just read?

This is what Thai military does to them.

Not a brain cell amongst them.

There must be an echo in the room, I'm sure I've heard that before...............

Buddhists celebrate the day of the Holy Innocents today? ????

What a joke, as long as the military are in power as they are presently and all the generals are getting well looked after they will be quite happy but as soon as a non military person comes along and gets to be leader those generals have to get snouts out of the trough they burr up, present company included.

Coup De Jour

The problem is that they'd say this with a straight face until the minute before they stage a coup.

Breathtaking! That is possibly the most blatant lie ever told by anyone wearing a uniform in Thailand, and that's really saying something. Everyone knows that it could not be further from the truth, as is evidenced by the numerous coups that have taken place over many decades. Not only that, the army chief who removed the democratically elected government and installed himself as PM still lives in an army compound.
