45 day on arrival then apply retirement Visa?

Recommended Posts

American over 50 applying for a retirement visa after arrival inThailand with 45 day on arrival Visa. Is it possible to get a retirement visa? Non-immigrant o for 12 months?  Will I get another 45 days if I leave the country? I have been looking through the threads. I cannot find the answers. I appreciate any help. Thank you.

I have tried from America to apply for the 90-day non-immigrant o and they rejected it because I don't have a Thai health insurance plan. They don't sell 3 months of insurance. Only one year and getting somebody to fill out that certificate form is impossible.

The certificate form is for overseas non-thai based companies. The insurance is paid by the month, just cancel it when you have the other visa. If you take Cialis and have a woody lasting over 36 hrs, please see your dr.

You could obtain another 45 day stamp with an exit and reenter visa exempt.

Be aware that you can also obtain a 30 day extension at immigration office in. Thailand.

To obtain your non O you require 800k in a Thai bank account in your name only on the day you apply.

That gives you a 90 day stamp and in the last 30 days you can obtain 12 month extension.

Be aware that when you apply for the non O you need 15 days remaining on your permission of stay.

Also for the non O you need to demonstrate the 800k came from abroad.

If organized you can obtain the non O in the 45 days from your visa exempt entry.

Do you have Thai bank account?

as above:
NOTE:
if u arrive on a 45 day visa exempt AND have 800,000 baht in the bank you can get the conversion to a 90 day Non Ofor 1,900 baht
As far as I know:
than to get the 1 year you need show the same 800,000 baht came from OUTSIDE thailand and has been in the bank 2 months, extension is 1,900 baht

If you cant meet the requirements you need an agent to assist you

Why you just don't walk in the immigraion office? Best is the one where you want to make the conversion from visa exception to a NON O, You have to know: it can be different the one to the other office. They have a list for all you need to apply for a Non O.

And why not use a forum to find out.

He can name office and most likely obtain first hand experience reply.

BTW  not everyone is handy to an immigration office.

You should be happy that the Embassy in the USA denied your visa. If they would have issued it would have been an O-A type which requires annual insurance. Get the Non-IMM type O issued here in country and you needn't provide proof of insurance on renewals.

The OP tried for a non O based on retirement (not a non O-A).

The non O retirement would have required 3 month insurance.

No insurance required for ongoing extensions.

Aside: OP, do you have a Thai bank account in your name only.

Non O Visa application is 2000 baht, extension from it will be 1900 baht

howdy. yes you can convert from visa exempt to non-O. here's a thread that covers the basics.

have a read and then come back here with any additional questions or any points for wish to be clarified.

I arrived in Thailand with visa exempt then got an agent to get me on to the retirement extensions, a very well known one. I had to pay him 31000 Bt for this.

Excellent! Thank you everyone for your input. I don't know how they expect you to figure all this out.  I will be in Phuket. If anybody knows of an agent or somebody that can help make this process go a lot easier that would be welcomed. Thank you

The following PDF should hopefully assist you in getting to grips with the initial non-O conversion process:-

The agent fees seem high to me.  If a person decides to use an agent, so be it.  I have done 12 years of extension without paying an agent.  It is doable.

Yes, have one in my name only.

Can you outline the steps after arriving with the 45-day.?

Trying to follow all the different threads

With a bank account you have it covered.

After arrival you need to transfer 800k into your Thai bank account.

If using WISE select reason for funds as last option.

Think reads something like "for long term stay"

Next attend immigration to apply for the non O. Note must have 15days remaining on your 45 day permit.

Some offices 21 days eg CM..

The non O gives you a 90 day stamp and in the last 30 days of that permit (with the 800k in bank for 2 months +)  you apply for the 12 month extension.

Obviously there is other paperwork such as basic copies of pp pages and bank letter, TM30 etc etc.

Covered in many threads.

That's the bones of it.

Yes I was ripped off good and proper, I cannot name the agent for obvious reasons, but there is always a PM.

This. Or just get a 3 month travel policy.

It is not required that the policy be from a Thai company. US company is fine - but they do need to fill out the certificate.

But make sure you are applying for a non-O and not a non-OA

Or just come in either on a Tourist visa or Visa exempt then apply to change to a non-O visa.

I do not see any insurance requirement in this FOR RETIREMENT PURPOSES - 50 YEARS OLD (NON-O) DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED MORE THAN 15 DAYS BEFORE VISA EXPIRATION

The OP stated this....

"I have tried from America to apply for the 90-day non-immigrant o and they rejected it because I don't have a Thai health insurance plan. ".....

A non O retirement applied for in USA would have required 3 months insurance.

A non O retirement applied for in Thailand does not have that requirement.
