Moving from Laos to Thailand Visa options

Recommended Posts

For visas issued by the embassy they are not all the expensive.

Extension of stay are all 1900 baht. If you qualify for certain extension you have to have money in a Thai bank.

What nationality is your son? What is your age?

If he is school age he could enroll in a school and to got a extension for attending a school and you could apply for a extension to extension for being his  father. That would require 500k baht in a Thai bank  for 90 days.

Under 50. Hard to say for now, at least a few months

As you are most likely aware.

Visa exempt is currently 45 day stamp .

That ends March 31.

You could consider couple of visa exempt entries via land borders.

Also 30 day extensions are available at immigration one per entry. 1900baht.

I have money in A Thai account but not a lot. My kid is 4 with British nationality. So i should go to the embassy in Vientian and get a tourist visa before entering Thailand?

Both of you should apply for tourist visas at the embassy in Vientiane or the consulate in Savannakhet.

Then both of you could apply for 30 day extension of the 60 days from the visa.

Would it be cheaper to enter on 45 day visa exempts and just extend versus get tourist visas from thai embassy vientian?

Personally can't see point of tourist visa vs visa exempt.

60 days vs 45 days.

Both can be extended by 30 days.

You are permitted 2 visa exempt entries via land per calendar year.

Get one in 2022 and couple more in 2023.

With youngster in tow choosing where to locate would be important.

Especially with borders to Myanmar currently closed for border bounce.

Don't follow that at all.

If child is Thai then you would think that the OP would mention that straight up.

OP stated the following......

"Under 50. Hard to say for now, at least a few months"...

How does schooling come into the discussion regards a 4 year old for "few months" stay.

You just added this to your initial post.

It deserves another laugh emoji.

You know nothing about OP circumstances....

You state.....

"not a good way to live with a kid"

Seriously?
