Quick T/v Question For Oz

Once a t/v is approved to australia,is there a certain period of time in which the applicant must leave before it becomes void ?

Im looking at submitting one for my g/f in july when im over there but i dont want her to join me for a couple of months after i return home.....

The tourist visa must be activated within three months from the date it was granted.
