Malaysian tourists drive 33 supercars over the border into Thailand at Betong

Sanook reported that a group of Malaysian supercar enthusiasts had driven across the border on a trip to Thailand.

 

They crossed at the checkpoint in Betong creating much excitement and tongue in cheek comparisons with street racing trips in Thailand with far less expensive vehicles.

 

There were 33 supercars parked in the lot of the immigration checkpoint according to an original Facebook post by a TV station. 

 

Thai and Malaysian tourists were busy taking pictures of the supercars.

Siam Rath had pictures of the cars parked in a tunnel in Betong that is in Yala province that borders Malaysia. 

 

One of the drivers said he was from Kuala Lumpur and the trip was called Next Drive.

They are visiting Betong because of its various attractions including a skywalk. 

 

However, in some parts of their trip due to the roads not being suitable for their vehicles they would park at their hotel and take vans to admire the attractions.

Don’t think so as they are part of Asean. Malaysian licenses are valid here. Same for Thai licences in Malaysia.

The first question that arose in my mind was: Is this even legal? Imagine a group of farang tourists or expats driving their cars, luxury or not, onto a important road in Patong and just blocking all other traffic from passing there.
