What insect could this be - sorry cannot find in internet

Seen beginning of rainy season, less now little rain.   Will try to photo next time I see good specimen
Ovoid shape, 1 - 2.5cm, chocolate brown colouring top whiter underneath, smooth top, slightly ribbed underneath, may feel slightly tacky and rubbery on back, movement almost imperceptible, very difficult to push with finger, I think that they leave a brown staining to cement road and in local small keep fit running track ( similar to that of cow / buffalo poo which "yes" sometimes enter park ), have not seen glitter track as with certain snails, have not noticed them in grass or roadside plants.
I am sure I will get some hilarious replies but having worked in farming in many countries since the 60's I have only seen this 'insect' here.

From the description the most plausible guess.

And some can indeed look "ovoid" shaped.

Not an insect as the OP does not mention any legs.

An insect has six legs (a spider eight).

Sounded like a used condom when you described it.

Reminds me of an old saying I would use occasionally when someone was particularly dumb: – "here's a newsflash; last night a swarm of brain eating beetles that got into the head of xyz whilst he was sleeping, were this morning found on his pillow, dead from starvation".

"Excuse me Mrs Richards. Is this a piece of your brain?"????????

I just did that and someone on there told me that it's a hungry caterpillar.

Strangely enough, I have just finished reading a novel about a hungry caterpillar.

Trippy or what?

I said that I had just finished reading it but I don't know the ending.

It was getting a bit scary on page 9 and I am not ready to read the other 2 pages.

I put the book in the freezer for now.

I think describing a grub or caterpillar of some type, not an insect (yet). The one that comes to mind is called a "mah-noi" by the locals here in Isan. (translates to "puppy"). You can find them eating your favorite plants and shrubs, they never eat stuff you don't like.
