Officials from Thailand’s Department of Marine and Coastal Resources found a second Leatherback turtle nest, containing 141 eggs, yesterday (Wednesday) on a beach in Takua Pa district of the southern province of Phang-nga.

The Phang-nga based officials conducted a routine pre-dawn patrol on the Bang Kwan beach in Kok Kloy sub-district yesterday and found tracks on the beach, made by what appeared to be a huge Leatherback turtle.

They followed the trail to the turtle’s nest, removed some sand and found the eggs buried about two-feet deep. Of the 141 eggs found, only 118 of them are good.
