ReloTH Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 All - been a long, long time since I've been to Pattaya so out of out touch so would love feedback. Family w/e from Bangkok with the wife & kids - is it possible to shelter them from the girlie bar scene in the way one can in Bkk by avoiding a few streets? And if so where would you recommend as a family orientated hotel? Thank you!
norfolkandchance Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Aiyaree Place Hotel. Jomtien. We always stay there when in town.
mran66 Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 If you really want complete non-visibility of bars with girls, in reality you need to substantially limit your mobility or go a bit out from city area to south jomtien or beyond. Thus, you should define your expectations a bit more to get good advice. But sure possible to visit pattaya without seeing them.
Popular Post bbi1 Posted December 5, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 5, 2022 Why the hell would you come to Pattaya with a family, if you want to shelter them from the bar scene and the girls? 2 1
digbeth Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Grand Centre Point Space is the hot thing amongst middle class Thais right now if you're into keeping up with the Somchais older resort-styled place like Centara Mirage or anything in Wong Amat is pretty family safe Even if you stick them all in the HIlton they'd only need to wander a few street to see where you've met their mother 1
cjinchiangrai Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Go to Bang Saen, Nice beach area, no working girls. A way better family choice. 1
thaiclan Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Pattaya has changed a lot in the 20 years I have been here. Today there are 12 international schools here in Pattaya and many English Programme schools on top of that. Families are a large part of the Pattaya community and it shows with all the schools, activities, malls and restaurants that cater to families. Naklua area (especially Wongamat) is a very family friendly holiday location. Just stay away from Soi Buhkhow and the adjacent roads - that's where you will find all the girls and boys showing their wares to passerby clients, and of course Walking Street is a place to steer clear of as well as Pattaya beach after dark. You may find specific info on family friendly places at www.PattayaParent.com 2
newnative Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Centara , already mentioned, is a terrific family resort. Amari would be another possibility for a hotel. The new addition they built is oriented towards families. Centre Point Space looks fun and very family-oriented. Plenty of family activities for a weekend in Pattaya. Nong Nooch Gardens is excellent, with several shows in addition to the extensive gardens. There are two new water parks to try, plus Underwater World and the Dolphinarium. Pattaya Floating Market. Harbor Land has opened at Terminal 21. Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach have both been widened. Have fun. 1
Phnom Penh Trader Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 There’s a great hotel next to Shagger’s Bar but the name escapes me now? http://monellipattaya.blogspot.com/2020/07/shaggers-bar-soi-lkmetro-pattaya.html
Onerak Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Unless you go to Soi Bua Khao or Walking street at night, there is nothing wrong in Pattaya, or Jomtien for a family trip. Nice place and I like it. 1
HuskerDo2 Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 It's ok to let the family see the girlie bars. Just tell them it's really Disneyland and all the bar girls are Cinderella and her sisters.
CrunchWrapSupreme Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Hua Hin or Rayong would be better choices. Less busy, less infamous. Pattaya still hasn't shaken much of its stigma. During Covid and teaching online, a coworker decided to take a trip there and work from the hotel. So when they called him in for a meeting he had to say he was there, "visiting a friend". They didn't buy it. I believe it was one of the main factors of their contract not being renewed.
PoorSucker Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I would go to BangSaray, fresh air and cleaner water.
