15 drug smugglers killed near Thai-Myanmar border in Chiang Mai

Thai security forces shot and killed 15 hill tribesmen and seized an unspecified quantity of illegal narcotics as they were trying to cross the border from Myanmar into Fang district of Chiang Mai last night (Wednesday).

 

A contingent of troops and paramilitary rangers, from the Pha Muang Task Force, was sent to the mountainous border area in Mon Pin sub-district to intercept the smuggling operation, as part of their anti-drug campaign.

 

As the forces laid in wait along the jungle trail used by drug traffickers, about 20 men showed up with backpacks. The troops told the men to stop for a search, but were fired upon.

Wonder if the drugs were worth the lives?

I question anything to do with the law's account. No one left alive to contradict the reported events.

Best news I have heard today , OK 15 men lost their lives , BUT they knew

what they were doing ,carrying  Crystal Meth , which is a scourge in Thailand ,

causing so many problems ,

And you think now the culprits have been assassinated or eliminated there are no witnesses left that the said drugs won't end up on the streets of Thailand?

How long have you lived here?

Just 35 years ....well they weren't all eliminated some escaped back into Burma ,

I am sure the drugs will be handed in so the Police can get their nice reward* , if they

will end up on the streets again neither of us know for sure , it's not a given , or

is all that stuff they burn every so often ,sawdust and flour  ?  * think it's 30% of the value.

If it was dark, how the heck did the Thais manage to shoot dead 15 men out of 20? They only retrieved 1 gun and a hand grenade. Sounds like a complete massacre.

Those drug smuggling conveys are often armed and they fire back and it ends up in a shoot out with the soldiers and soldiers getting injured/killed

My first thought to, knowing who control the drugs in our village, you know somebody stepped over their territory and made someone do a massacre in own interest. Not one Policeman hurt? Well done job!

Smugglers dead.. good riddance,
