snoop1130 Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Anti-narcotics officials in Samut Prakan seized about 3 billion baht in property today (Friday), allegedly belonging to Chinese businessman Chaiyanat Kornchayanant, aka “Tuhao”. Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin said that the Office of the Narcotics Control Board exercised its authority under the narcotics law to seize the businessman’s property for examination, to determine whether it was acquired with money earned from illegal activities. The property seized includes 5.75 hectares of land in Samut Prakan, the Divalux Resort and Spa hotel and five luxury cars. Earlier, property worth about 1 billion, also allegedly belonging to Chaiyanat, was seized by the ONCB. swerve Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 What is the real name for "Tuhao"? If he is Chinese, it shouldn't be a Thai name like Chaiyanat Kornchayanant. 1 1

I'd guess that he is a Thai-Chinese and they are trying to distance him from the fact that he was born, raised, and lived his entire life........in Thailand. But now that the lid has blown on his corruption they seek to identify him as "not Thai". Just a wild guess of course. 6 2
RichardColeman Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Jeez, if they keep arresting all these chinese 'businessmen' then the zero dollar tours could collapse and NO chinese will ever come again - if they ever get out 1 1

They are very fast seizing properties from suspects , even there is no evidence yet that the money used to acquire these properties was ' dirty money " . Guess somebody has an idea about the ' redistribution ' of the assets already .... 4

Was it Rama V who asked all the chinese to adopt Thai names in order to fit into Siamese society better.? Maybe the fashion has returned to help the chinese to blend into the background in modern times..... It is probably very easy to change your name in Thailand. Only difficult to change your sex on the ID.

steevjee Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Not much Chinese about him with that name ???? 1
