Multiple collision leaves more than 30 students and teachers injured on field trip

Daily News reported on multiple injuries among students and teachers after a bus returning from a field trip collided with a six wheel truck carrying sound equipment then hit a stopped pick-up waiting to turn.

 

It happened on the Warinchamrap - Phibunmangsahan Road KM marker 18 at a t-junction in Tha Chang sub-district of Sawang Wirawong district in Ubon Ratchathani, NE Thailand yesterday evening around 6pm.

 

Sawang Wirawong police and rescue services had to deal with more than 30 injured teachers and students.

The injured were ferried to four local hospitals.

 

The school party had been on a field trip in Phibunmangsahan and were returning to Samrong district.

The students were in the early primary years.

Correct. Simple careless turn in by the truck driver. Complete blind/blackout. You can't believe it except you have seen it.

Driver unconscious or the infamous brake failure?

It's a T-junction. So no way the truck could turn in at that speed (formula 1 like).
