BREAKING; Ukraines foreign minister Dymytro Kuleba, Peace talks by end of February.

he gave an interview to AP, it's very confusing what he meant. Looks, like off the bat statements, nothing planned yet.

Peace talks are usually behind close doors, that was the case with serious negotiation in April 2022, which were very close to signing.

"Ukraine’s foreign minister said Monday that his nation wants a summit to end the war but he doesn’t anticipate Russia taking part, a statement making it hard to foresee the devastating invasion ending soon.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told The Associated Press that his government wants a “peace” summit within two months at the United Nations with Secretary-General António Guterres as mediator.

The U.N. gave a very cautious response."

It is obvious who invaded Ukraine and it is obvious Putin should get out and pay big reparations.

It's also obvious that Putin won't do that. He can't just say: sorry, I made a mistake.

Should Ukraine just accept that part of their country goes to Russia so that Putin won't lose face? I don't think so.

Other options? Any?

As long as Putin is in charge that will be very difficult. And if he wouldn't be there then the situation would probably get worse.

Breaking news is keep making statements to media to keep the Ukraine war in the forefront as there is so much else going on in the world,  the war in Ukraine is just one of the things.

If all, or most news was about Ukraine, you might have a point. But it isn't, so you don't. Keep in mind that it is by far the biggest land war in Europe for almost 80 years. So, naturally, it's going to be a major news item in Europe and allied nations. But it's far from being the only one.

Putin could coalesce and state it was his cancer medication treatments that made him turn bat-feces crazy...

The orcs keep doing that, damn those Russians eh, another one straight off the breaking news press:

Russia's Lavrov: Either Ukraine fulfils Moscow's proposals or our army will decide

(Reuters) -Moscow's proposals for settlement in Ukraine are well known to Kyiv and either Ukraine fulfils them for their own good or the Russian army will decide the issue, TASS agency quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying.

"Our proposals for the demilitarization and denazification of the territories controlled by the regime, the elimination of threats to Russia's security emanating from there, including our new lands, are well known to the enemy," the state news agency quoted Lavrov as saying late on Monday.

"The point is simple: Fulfil them for your own good. Otherwise, the issue will be decided by the Russian army."

So it is a war, and not a special operation. Maybe Lavriv needs to get removed by a special operation, the man's a war monger.

Looks like Putin slipped up to...........lol

"Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday used the word “war” to refer to the conflict in Ukraine, the first known time he has publicly deviated from his carefully crafted description of Moscow’s invasion as a “special military operation” 10 months after it began.

Nikita Yuferev, a municipal lawmaker from St. Petersburg who fled Russia due to his antiwar stance, on Thursday said he had asked Russian authorities to prosecute Putin for “spreading fake information about the army.”

A US official told CNN their initial assessment was that Putin’s remark was not intentional and likely a slip of the tongue."

Well it's important Ukraine is kept in the news or there will be a gradual lack of support.

Not easy to hold peace talks when you also have high ranking Russian officials demanding the overthrow of the legally elected government in Ukraine and the use of nuclear blackmail. This from just yesterday.

Did you mean the overthrow of the "legally elected government" in 2014? Was it by high ranking Russian officials?

If you had not edited and deleted the main content of my post then what I was clearing meaning was:

Medvedev spoke about the “mission” of the Russian Federation in Ukraine

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and former President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev called the overthrow of the legally elected government in Ukraine a “mission” of the Russian Federation. He also said that to “normalize the situation”, which could lead to World War III and nuclear war, Russia should receive maximum “security guarantees”.

“The sooner the guarantees of maximum security that suit our country are received, the sooner the situation will normalize. If we do not receive them, tension will persist indefinitely. The world will continue to balance on the brink of World War III and a nuclear catastrophe, and we will do everything to prevent them,”

I doubt it personally I don’t think they should negotiate with the Russians until they’re out of all of Ukraine and then only about reparations and the turning over of war criminals

Perhaps part of the peace talks might be about a total Russian withdrawal from the whole of the Ukraine.

At this point there are few if any details about what the talks might entail so it may be best if we wait for more information, such as if Russia will join the peace talks, where they will be held and who will guarantee the end results.

Ukraine has a hard line and wants total withdrawals of Russian occupied Ukraine territories.

I cannot see that happening unless there is a complete internal political power change in Russia.

It's obvious, Putin wants America to pay for the big reparations and when or if he pulls out of Ukraine he wants to get away with any or all war crimes, Business as usual?

But it is not an unreasonable demand, since Russia was the aggressor in both cases.

Nor is it unreasonable for the the Ukraine to demand reparations for all the damage that the Russians have caused.

Nor is it unreasonable for the the Ukraine to demand that ALL Russian war criminals, including Putin be handed over to a war crimes tribunal at the Hague.

The ground realities are sinking in in Kiev. But it's a bit late to beg for peace. The 500k army Russia amassed around Ukraine isn't going to say, "You want to quit the fight? Ok, we'll go home then and leave things the way they are. Don't you mess around again or we'll be back."

No, they have a beating coming there way. They'll be lucky if Surovikin stops short of Odessa. Otherwise, the only way to the Black Sea will be by bus first to Romania.

Well the mighty invincible Russian forces haven't done very well during the last 10 months,  since Putin started the war.

What makes you think that they will do better in 2023?

Considering the size of the Russian armament industry it seems odd that they have to buy drones from Iran.
