Thai Rath reported on developments in the case of an online gambling site programmer and admin who has claimed he was assaulted, abducted and threats made to kill his family.

This all allegedly came from a policeman of the rank of Major General who was a classmate of Pol Lt-Gen Surachate Hakpan, Thailand's most famous deputy commander who has the name Big Joke.

The incident happened on January 12th.

Afterwards the programmer went to social activist Ekkaphop Leuangprasert who runs the Facebook page "Sai Mai Tong Rort".

The incident happened after profits on the illegal gambling site went down and it was claimed that the programmer was helping himself to money.

Five of seven people named in warrants for a long string of offences including robbery, assault with menaces, illegal detention and weapons offences have surrendered to the custody of the Chokechai police in Lad Prao, Bangkok. Two remain on the run, a woman who stole the victim's phone and an inquisitor.

Three senior policemen are among more than 100 officers helping with the investigation about "grey Chinese mafia". One may be the man behind this serious case, notes ASEAN NOW. Surachate has already promised that his classmates involved in illegal activities will be prosecuted fully.

Surachate promised that any policeman behind this case will be prosecuted fully when he appeared at Chokechai police station yesterday evening.

He said that the case was a priority for RTP commander Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat who had called for its swift resolution as it is of great public interest and brazen in nature.

The programmer had worked for the site for 5-6 years.

He was met by 4-5 people at a coffee shop in Samed, Chonburi where he denied stealing from the site.

He was attacked with boots and fists. His phone was stolen and 25,000 baht was taken from his  account.

Details of state registration documents were presented to him. It is believed that these came from the policeman behind the gambling site. They were used to threaten him and his family.

The victim was then abducted and driven to his address in Lat Prao where his girlfriend was staying.

A phone and shoes were stolen there.

The victim went for help to Ekkaphop after the incident that led to arrest warrants being issued. He had been particularly scared because some of his assailants were armed.

Surrendering were Chaichana, 32, an attacker, Ramita, 32, who checked bank details, Thanet, 34, an attacker, Krissada, 32, a driver, and Suthat, 25, also a driver.

A woman called Patchawan, 39, who took the victim's phone, and a man called Montree who questioned the victim remain at large.

They all face many charges together.

But the Thai public will be more interested if and when the police connection in the case comes to light with punishment for the Maj-Gen allegedly behind the abduction and death threats.

The corruption here is phenomenal.  Must make other countries feel good. Yet the corruption index for Thailand is not truly all revealed.

They managed to get to the guys who determine the index!

Suggest a big vinyl board and two pointing sticks for this one and another pointing stick to point out any uncorrupted officers at the bottom of the swamp ????

If the average person knew the amount of corruption, and how much money, these guys are making, if they mind boggling TIT

There was never any intent to stop corruption. The biggest joke is simply a PR goon. His insincerity is staggering. So is the police corruption on his watch.

Dagnabbit!

From the index page

(Maj-Gen allegedly behind assault and death threats to admin guy.), I thought it was one of this site's admin guys.

I had to read the article.

And remarkably with all this corruption and violence perpetrated by the police themselves almost on a daily basis Prayut and Prawit have nothing much to say?
