A penniless, stressed out man, whose wife had left him, committed suicide in an anonymous room in the soi beside Banglamung Commercial College on 1st July.

After the report of a hanged man, at 11.30 AM, Pol.Lt. Naruphon Garuna, accompanied by the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Team went to investigate. In the 3rd room on the ground floor of a rooming-house, they found the dead body of Mr. Suey Dangasai, (41), from Sriboonrueng, Nong Bualamphu, hanging by a nylon rope tied to a clothes hanger. There was no sign of a disturbance and the victim was otherwise uninjured. It is estimated that Mr. Suey had been dead for about 2 hours.

Mr. Apichart Phunongong (30), Mr. Suey’s roommate, reported to the police that he had left the room to buy some food at the market at 9.30 pm. When he returned, he found Mr. Suey had hung himself. He suspected that Mr. Suey had committed suicide because he was destitute and disconsolate after his wife had left him

Previously, apparently, Mr.Suey’s wife had given him the money to invest in a sausage retailing business, but it had failed and he had lost not only the money, but also his wife as a result. Mr. Apichart was of the opinion that these two factors were sufficient cause for Mr.Suey to commit suicide.

The police will contact his cousins to arrange for his funeral.

That is really so sad, someone works hard to build a business and he loses everything through no fault of his own.

Hope we will not see more of this as belts tighten.

"News Type : Crime"

is thai law considering suicide a crime? if yes, what punishment can a person who committed suicide expect?

What about punishment for a failed attempt?
