Hi

i search multiple times, but cant find information if you do support thai child, custodian to thai child and wanna do 1 year extension, do you need to drag your kids to immigration?  or only if you do wife extension you need your wife there?

i would rather not wait with small kids at immigration for ours, would be a disaster.  but i not saw anywhere they require the kids to be there, or do they?

thank you

We brought our pre-schooler along to immigration when renewing a marriage extension. He absolutely charmed the female officers on what transpired to be the fastest marriage extension filing ever. I would imagine that the letter of the law says they need to see the child, especially if it is the first extension filing. I have heard that some offices will appreciate that the kids are in school when doing a renewal.

Better the OP ask at the Immigration office he will be using.

There is nothing in Thai law that says you must have a child in order to obtain a marriage extension.

He is not obtaining an extension based on marriage.

Read OP again.

I was replying to NanLaew, not the OP.

He stated nothing regarding extension based on marriage.

The OP asked about extension based on support of Thai child!

Then you post about extension based on marriage.

As I said, I was replying to NanLeaw, not the OP and NanLeaw posted this :-

Are you selectively blind?

Next time you quote include the entire text if it's part of the context.

Not your edit.

In any event for extension based on marriage the child is NOT required to attend.

Next time, before you get on your high horse, try reading the name of the person I am quoting.

Ok, guess that's the downside of putting someone on ignore.

If I may chip in..

For Jomtien, unfortunately, yes.

You need to bring your wife along with your children (if any).

Did my yearly extension based on ' supporting Thai children or family (or whatever they call it) on the 9th Feb and again was asked to bring in the wife and the boys for family photo session by the IO.

They were waiting at the coffee shop nearby.

Been repeating the same process for the past 11 years.

Thank GOD the boys are grown up now....

The below capture is from my extension stamp on my passport... Not sure whats written...

I'm pretty sure it depends on how old they are. I've done three marriage extensions and our daughter (who is 34) has never been required to be on the photos.
