webfact Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Sanook Thai Caption: Fled police and died Sanook reported on an incident in Sam Phrao sub-district of Muang Udon Thani in Thailand's north east when a Honda Jazz crashed into a lamppost killing a man called Attichart or At, 28, on February 21st. Many reports on social media from friends and witnesses suggested that At had been chased by police in a pick-up who fired shots at him causing him to crash. His teacher at school - a man called Yutthaphon - said that he got to know At very well when he helped him out with coaching a football team even though he was not a player himself. He didn't know the reasons behind what happened but suggested heavy handed police tactics. But the Muang Udon police said that At was mixed up in Ya Ba dealing and a sting had been set up to buy 2,000 pills. At got wise to the bust and took off at speed. Picture: Sanook The police said their investigation showed that there was no police chase, no shots fired and that At crashed after losing control at speed. The teacher and a social activist are pressing for the case to be properly investigated. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-03-01 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
