Popular Post Sheryl
Oh did I ever. Really bad and not like the way I normally feel when sad and depressed. Something altogether different. Everything, even cartoons in the New Yorker, struck me as tragic. It is a very well known feature of dengue. It resolves with time but very gradually. Can take as long as 1 - 2 months in some csses. Just keep reminfmding yourself it's part of the disease. 9 1 4

Popular Post NativeBob
Got it twice or thrice over couple of decades in SEAsia. Flushed that <deleted> with 101 Pipers. Tasted like 7 types of <deleted>, but didn't care. Feels horrible, but bearable. Recovered within second week. No doctors and meds. Immune system biz only. 1 1

phuketsub
I had it twice: The first time was a living hell, living alone in a 5-story shophouse in 2000. I really thought I was going to die. It took about a month to get over it. The second time was 2019, before Covid. This time I was hospitalized for 2 nights, but it wasn't as bad in the early stages as the first time. However, after I recovered I had excruciating arthritis in my hands. I suffered for a long time before trying prednisone, which was like a magic elixir. Both bouts were far, far worse than Covid.

Sheryl gives good advice: it's part of the disease; miserable, but it will pass.. I've had it twice. First time in the 90s (in Laos) was much worse than second time about 10 years ago (in Bangkok). Felt pretty down the first time round for about a month. But it did get better.

2ndhomepattaya
Had Dengue once and severe enough to scare the sh,,,, out of me. Once the fever broke from a solid high of 40 over several days I got excruciating arthritis first on my ankles so bad I could not get up unaided. It seemed to last several weeks. Once I started to get better I had the same experience in my hands. Doctor never tested which of the strands I had only confirmed via blood test that I indeed had dengue. Took me best part of 6 months to be right again.
swissman53
Yes, I got dengue 15 years ago in Hua Hin. I was two weeks at San Paulo Hospital and lucky to stay alive. It took 3 months till I could walk stairs alone. After 6 months I was ready to do normal life again
