Business leaders praise election clarity but survey shows anxiety about threat of political instability
by Joseph O' Connor

image.jpeg

Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha dissolved the House of Representatives on Monday while on Tuesday, the Election Commission set May 14th as the date for the 2023 General Election. There is growing speculation that as well as putting General Prayut forward as one of the party’s nominees for prime minister before April 7th at Bangkok City Hall, the United Thai Nation (Ruam Thai Sang Chart) party may also place him on the rolls of potential party list MPs at the same time. It comes as unease in the business community exists over the threat of political instability if there is not a smooth and peaceful transfer of power after the poll without controversy in June or July.
