Phuket Predicts Increase in Hotel Bookings for Songkran Festival

 

PHUKET (NNT) - The southern province of Phuket is expecting a 10% rise in hotel bookings during the upcoming Songkran festival, following the months-long promotion of the government’s “We Travel Together” tourism stimulus campaign throughout the country.

Health Ministry says no XBB.1.16 COVID sub-variant cases in Thailand yet

The Thai Ministry of Public Health is closely monitoring the spread of the new XBB.1.16 COVID-19 sub-variant in India. It has not yet been detected in Thailand, according to Public Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Opart Karnkawinpong.

Mystery ฿6 million to be traced after Chuwit outwits detractors again by calling in the police

Top lawyer Sittha Biabangkerd, on Thursday, visited the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) Central Investigation Police Reporting Center on the Phaholyothin Road in the Chatuchak area of Bangkok at 5 pm and stayed until 7.30 pm approximately. It followed a visit between Mr Chuwit Kamolvisit and Police Lieutenant General Jiraphat Phuridet on Tuesday which is to be followed by a visit on Friday where the anti-corruption activist will hand over ฿6 million in cash, an attempted bribe paid to him in early February which he had originally donated to charity.


Over the last six weeks, Mr Chuwit’s anti-corruption crusade has moved on to politics and his attacks on the Bhumjaithai Party.

PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha said today (Mar. 30) that he is too busy to go monitor efforts to put out a huge fire raging across three mountains in Nakhon Nayok but Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan is free to do so in keeping with his duty, Naewna newspaper said.

Tourists flee gang warfare on Bang Saen beach - trader says it happens frequently - no mention of police

Chiang Rai opens up to the world

Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto made merit by donating money for a metal sheet in the shape of a Bodhi tree leaf and adding it to the Bodhi Tree sculpture at Wat Rong Khun.


Internationally acclaimed artists Tobias Rehberger, Ernesto Neto, Haegue Yang, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Nguyen Trinh Thi, Baan Nok Collective and Navin Rawanchaikul are amongst the headliners of the Thailand Biennale Chiang Rai 2023.

Transport Company Plans 4,500 Daily Trips for Songkran Travel

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Transport Company has announced that state-owned and private buses and vans will be arranged to make 4,500 trips per day, carrying an estimated 60,000 people back home to the provinces from Bangkok for the upcoming long Songkran holidays.
