Thai Central Bank tightens up measures to protect bank customers

Bank customers who want to transfer more than 50,000 baht electronically from their bank accounts are required to have their faces scanned to confirm their banking transactions, under a new set of measures imposed by the Bank of Thailand to protect bank customers from online thieves.

Thais Got 17 Million Scam Calls In 2022, 45% Phone Numbers Leaked

THE total number of scam calls made to Thais last year jumped by 165% to 17 million while over 45% of phone numbers in this country, or 13.5 million, had been leaked, according to Gogolook, the Taiwan-based developer of caller identification app Whoscall, Naewna newspaper said.

32 Chinese Christian asylum seekers arrested by Pattaya police for visa overstays on Friday

Some of the 63 Chinese nationals detained by Nong Prue police, in Pattaya, on Friday, as they emerged from the police station. They were transported into the custody of the Pattaya Provincial Court holding centre after being charged with visa overstaying in the kingdom which they entered in 2022.


A group of 63 Chinese nationals including children aligned with a Christian group known as the Mayflower Church, fled China in 2019 and entered Thailand first in 2022 having spent time on the South Korean island of Jeju where hopes of obtaining asylum faded amid alleged harassment orchestrated by the Chinese state.

Thai monk celebrates his birthday throwing money from the sky
