The first direct flights linking Phuket and the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, will begin operating from May. TTR Weekly reports that low-cost carrier Vietjet will launch the service, making trips between both destinations more affordable and cutting down on travel time.

It’s understood that a number of Hanoi-based travel agents are planning a “familiarisation trip” to Phuket, which is being arranged by the company which handles Vietjet’s ground services on the island.

Flights are expected to commence on May 19, with a flying time of around 3 hours. The flight to Phuket will depart Hanoi at 11.35, landing in Phuket at 14.40. The return flight will leave Phuket at 15.45, touching down in Hanoi at 18.35.
