backstreet
Ive been taking my own blood pressure using an Omron HEM-7130 machine . Ive come to notice that my own blood pressure results taken at home are nearly always within the same average range. The thing I can't understand is why are all my blood pressure result numbers all around the same general area. I have used the same Omron HEM-7130 machine on 6 other family members and their blood pressure results were all individually different . I'm not sure if all my blood pressure results being in the same approximate range could be considered as being normal , but to me it does seem a little strange and some what worrying. In the past I have had my own blood pressure taken while in hospital , but my blood pressure numbers were a bit on the high side , apparently due to some thing called '' white coat syndrome '' . Looking at my blood pressure results , would they be considered to be within a normal range for some one of my age group ( 71 ) , and why would those blood pressure results always be similar . Should I be concerned . Below are my recent blood pressure results taken at home at different times of the day in a sitting position and on different arms ... 114 / 66 / 64 111 / 64 / 60 102 / 63 / 63 100 / 66 / 60 110 / 66 / 65 97 / 62 / 66 102 / 60 / 64 111 / 69 / 64 102 / 60 /64 118 / 66 / 67 108 / 58 / 74 103 / 58 / 65 113 / 64 / 66 109 /61 /62 113 / 70 / 59 112 / 64 / 66 102 / 61 /68 100 / 67 / 66 99 / 58 / 61 104 / 59 / 60 98 / 57 / 63 114 /66 / 55 96 /66 / 64 112 / 67 / 67 112 / 64 /67 108 /60 /68 107 / 65 / 72 93 / 68 / 67 100 / 62 / 66 107 / 64 / 62 105 / 57 / 64 107 / 60 / 59 100 / 62 / 67 102 / 59 / 64 106 / 66 / 64 102 / 59 / 62 107 / 68 / 62 117 / 71 / 66 105 /60 / 62 101 / 64 / 63 104 / 59 / 63 101 / 67 / 57 101 / 64 / 64 104 / 66 / 60 112 / 63 / 60 110 / 63 / 58 109 / 64 / 66 106 / 63 / 58 102 / 59 / 56 114 / 60 / 64 105 / 61 / 64 117 / 65 / 63 106 / 65 / 60 105 / 63 / 52 101 / 71 / 68 101 / 57 / 69 109 / 64 / 66 115 / 73 / 71 102 / 64 / 59 . Popular Post DavisH
Your results are on the low side, but are fine. My wife has similar blood pressure readings. I wish mine were as low as this! As your pressures are on the low side, don't expect too much variation. My pressures are higher and I get more variation than this. The only thing to be aware of is that your left and right arm measurements are not widely different, but yours look fine. 3 2
Popular Post Lacessit
IMO your blood pressure results are fine, provided your BP monitor is correctly calibrated. I have two machines, wrist and arm, so I can check if they are giving similar results. The last figure, I assume pulse rate, is also good. I have figures similar to yours, and white coat syndrome in spades. I get above 140/80 any time I am in a clinic or hospital. Stress raises blood pressure, and hospitals are places where one may be hurt. Your BP will fluctuate during the day, depending on your activity. I always measure my BP either first thing in the morning, or late afternoon, to achieve consistency. The risks with low BP are dizziness and passing out, which is not likely with the figures you have posted. Take it slowly when getting up from a lying or sitting position. Bear in mind your kidneys are cheering from the sidelines. They hate high blood pressure. Also bear in mind Viagra or Cialis will lower your BP substantially. The OP BP results are a bit like mine, low but acceptable if the Systolic and the Diastolic go below <99 and <59 on a regular basis I would suggest a trip to the doctor or hospital. The odd one or two readings just ignore and repeat the test. The problem I have with low blood pressure is that I had a blackout in March and woke up in hospital 65 km away later with no idea where I was, how long I had been there or even what happened. Now I get up slowly and if I don't feel too bright I simply sit and take slow deep breaths for several minutes. I also take a slow walk around every 30 to 45 minutes just to get my body moving. I am 78 and weighed 113.5 kg this morning. My results from 09 March Sys Dia 105 60 117 68 92 53 104 56 109 71 115 65 126 76 127 74 121 75 118 77 129 64 124 75 117 66 108 74 104 72 118 72 106 64 106 66 117 68 114 64 102 59 97 55 1
Popular Post Moonlover
I think the only thing that you need to worry about @backstreet is your tendency to worry about things! ???? Relax, everything is fine. I use the same machine as you BTW and although my readings aren't as low as yours, they are consistent and therefor IMO reliable. 2 1
ChrisKC
The chart below shows my figures for blood pressure for the last seven weeks. They show three consecutive measurements, early morning and late evening Three measurements recorded plus the average in the next column and a final column for the two averages to calculate the average daily measurements The 1's and 1/2's in the rows reflect the medication. either a whole tablet or just half - they are made to easily break in half. My readings show I am within acceptable levels with the odd blip for which I have no explanation. I use an Omron.

IMO I think he was right to be a little concerned rather than worried. When you are out on your own, as most of us are, It is good to be able to talk to other people through a forum and see if they feel the same way as you do. Having Sheryl on the forum is a great help too. My BP machine is a microlife BP 3AP1-3E. 2

When I wrote that I did have in mind the fact that worry can induce anxiety and that, in turn can result in elevated blood pressure. It's a well known 'vicious circle'. Anyway I'm sure the O/P has had enough reassurance by now that he doesn't actually have a problem. ???? 1

backstreet
Thanks every one , yes I admit it I’m a worrier especially where my health is concerned and with that confession in mind after reading that its recommended that Omron blood pressure monitors should be re calibrated after 2-3 years and the fact that my own Omron HEM-7130 machine is over 7 yers old . I thought I would pop down to my local doctors private clinic and ask to have my blood pressure taken and at the same time ask if the doctor could compare the blood pressure readings with the doctors blood pressure monitor agains the blood pressure readings taken from my own Omron HEM-7130 machine. So I had my blood pressure taken with the doctors professional looking blood pressure monitor and straight after that my blood pressure was taken using my own Omron HEM-7130 machine . This was repeated twice .( right arm then left arm ) The results were … Doctors blood pressure monitor , right arm = 126 / 61 My Omron blood pressure monitor , right arm = 137 / 68 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doctors blood pressure monitor , left arm = 134 / 70 My Omron blood pressure monitor , left arm = 144 / 75 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the doctors view my Omron blood pressure monitor was giving blood pressure readings that were around 10% different . I knew that any blood pressure readings taken in the doctors clinic may be elevated due to the anxiety I was feeling . I walked out of the doctors clinic clutching my Omron HEM-7130 machine , thinking to my self ....... now what . ???? .

The precise numbers don't really matter - that is why a 'healthy' range is given. Changes in readings are more relevant. In my case if I put on weight there is a noticeable increase in the numbers... whether that is 125 to 140 or 130 to 145 doesn't matter, that is time for me to react by popping Amlodine until I can reverse the increase, Just take 10% off your readings and get on with enjoying your life. Sheryl
Actually you may have been more anxious on the second reading since the accuracy of your machine was what concerned you. Note that the difference was mainly in the systolic (top number). 1
