The U.S, Embassy is no longer issuing linkage letters for immigration with new U.S. passports. You are instructed to submit the canceled and new passports to immigration instead.

I'm now using the third passport since my arrival (i.e. 2 new ones).

With the first replacement supplied both old and new to Immigration, nothing needed except time (don't know how many stamps were appended), no problems.

With the second needed Embassy letter to request transfer and acknowledgement letter from employer noting the change, otherwise no problems.

Looks like we are regressing.

There is another thread on this.

What they didn't list is "when available" except that the IO won't transfer your stamps over without one.  TIT.  That's how it works in some Immigration Offices.

So how is this progressing.  Is the OP's I/O going to allow the passport transfer without a letter from the embassy?
