A federal appeals court has upheld several provisions of a restrictive election law in Florida that was passed by the GOP-controlled legislature in 2021.

A divided panel of the 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals reversed most of a ruling by a trial judge last year that said the provisions in question violated the Constitution and the Voting Rights Act by intentionally targeting Black voters.

US District Judge Mark Walker’s ruling, the appeals court said Thursday, was legally and factually flawed. The 11th Circuit also reversed a holding by Walker that would have required Florida to seek federal approval for any future election rule changes that are similar to the provisions he had struck down.

What's wrong with removing all voter fraud equations? I would think all should be on board with a fair election.

The only sure way to eliminate the possibility of voter fraud is to ban all voting.

A bit drastic given the rarity of voter fraud:

It creates barriers. Why create barriers that will prevent people from executing their constitutional rights to solve an non existing problem.

In other words, Democrats are angry that they cannot easily vacuum up all the lazy, apathetic, low information people- the ones who vote Dem overwhelmingly.

Here are the so-called restrictions...

limit who can return absentee ballots on behalf of voters, add identification requirement for absentee voting and bar outside groups from providing water to voters within 150 feet of a polling place.

One Florida provision would require voters to reapply for absentee ballots for every election

What is so onerous about the above?

The Republican dream of requiring in person voting only on a work day is the most anti poor (typical dem voter) restriction in their tool chest.

Spot on! In countries relying on in person voting, elections are usually held on Sunday. It also facilitates finding volunteers and thetefore having more, closer, voting spots.
