Jiggo Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 God this is nearly as serious as the British Bridge Syndicate in Jomtien a few years ago, more than 10 over 70's banged up on that raid.

It is well known that Gambling isn't allowed in Thailand So is Prostitution; Sex toys; Porn Movies; Etc. But if I would get 1 USD per prostitute in Thailand, I would be rich man 1 1
bendejo Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 What surprises me is the gambling was done with Indian currency. It's been a long time since I was last in India, but I remember they were strict about the currency exiting/entering the country. Nearly every day a newspaper report about someone caught at the airport with rupees in a toothpaste tube or some such.

So that means they had to smuggle their stake out of the country, and then whatever they have left back in. If caught more likely it would be a quiet confiscation than arrest. Doesn't sound very smart. Fun fact: over there "420" means corruption, so if someone says so-and-so is a '420 man' it has nothing to do with intoxicants.

thesetat Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 of course they were not smart. They could have easily avoided being arrested if they kept the money part hidden by using phones to pay bets... or some other means other than cash on tables..
Skallywag Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 More grifting money for the police ....or will they use it to finish the stadium? Will they use the money for finally build the Bali Hai pier project after the 100's of millions of baht from taxpayers has not been enough to even start the project. Money comes and money vanishes. Likely tables and all will be sold for profits as well
