Social Media
9 One of the Minneapolis officers involved in the death of George Floyd has been found guilty of aiding and abetting manslaughter. A Minnesota judge issued the guilty verdict for Tou Thao on Monday night. Four former police officer were charged in the aftermath of Mr Floyd's death. His killing led to mass protests around the world. Thao's conviction on the latest charges marks the end in a series of state and federal cases against the four men. Minnesota's attorney general Keith Ellison said Thao's conviction is "historic and the right outcome". "While we have now reached the end of the prosecution of Floyd's murder, it is not behind us," he said. "There is much more that prosecutors, law-enforcement leaders, rank-and-file officers, elected officials, and community can do to bring about true justice in law enforcement," he said. 1 1

In Tao's case all he did was hold back the baying crowd, which may have actually prevented a full on riot and more fatalaties. So in my opinion, this is harsh. If he failed to hold them back and fatalaties ensued as a result, he may still have faced manslaughter charges. He was between a rock and a hard place. However, anything less than this would likely lead to BLM/Antifa and other extremist left wing groups burning and looting American cities again so he appears to have to take one for the team. 2 2 1 4

They all could see what was happening and did nothing to try to stop it. He even prevented a trained medical person (a firefighter) from providing medical assistance to George. Aiding and abetting manslaughter is the correct verdict. Edited May 3, 2023 by josephbloggs 4 2 1 2 6

Popular Post riclag
Most people accept and obey police commands ,when being detained . Floyd didn’t adhere to the first attempt to detain him. If only that occurred perhaps none of this would of transpired! How many times has society been exposed to people who rather dispute commands on the street instead of in court. "....to satisfy the BLM crowd". Ha ha, not hard to see which side of the fence you are sitting on. So it was nothing to do with the fact that an unarmed man was murdered by the police by having his neck kneeled on for nine and a half minutes and a full minute and a half after he lost consciousness. Nothing to do with the fact that he was clearly dying and everyone could see that yet nobody did anything to stop it, the crowd were shouting for help. Nothing also to do with the fact that not only did this "officer" do nothing to try to stop the killing but he also prevented a person with trained medical skills (an off duty firefighter) from rendering medical assistance. That is clearly aiding and abetting manslaughter. But no, none of the was taken in to account, it was all just to appease BLM. If officers are, as you say trained, then they should be handling the situation and continually assessing developments. Multiple people standing near by telling police officers that they are killing the guy who one of the officers has his knee on his neck is the kind of thing trained officers ought reasonably be expected respond to. The Jury agreed. But back to this training you mention, I wonder which part of police training covers holding a person to the ground with your knee on his neck for over 9 minutes? "This cop was doing crowd control, nothing more." Not true, he was standing over Floyd as he was on the ground with a knee on his neck by the other officer. Floyd was still just alive screaming to be let go just before he died. Tou did nothing while this was going on a couple of feet away from him. Tou Thao also had 6 previous complaints made against him including a brutality lawsuit for throwing a man to the ground and hitting him. There was no crowd, only a few people. They were not threatening or trying to intervene. They were cautiously remaining on the sidewalk, and were just yelling Floyd was dying. There was no crowd control. The video even showed a cop watching it quietly with his hands in his pockets. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/06/01/us/george-floyd-three-videos-minneapolis/index.html

No one is suggesting that the correct outcome was death or that he deserved to die . Point being that had he not resisted arrest and had he followed the Police officers instructions then he wouldn't have been restrained and he wouldn't have died . 1 1 1
